Im reading it as they have told him they won't be following it up, he is trying last ditch efforts to push it through. I think smug intimated earlier that there was a take it or leave it meeting tomorrow which seems spot on to what is being reported now
Except it’s not tomorrow it’s today, so it’s not spot on really m8.

Ross confirmed by club:

Sunderland AFC announced this afternoon that it had terminated the contract of manager Jack Ross.

SAFC chairman Stewart Donald said: “This is a decision that has been made with a heavy heart. When we arrived at the club 18 months ago, we appointed Jack because we felt that he was the right man to take Sunderland forward over a number of years.

“Jack has worked extremely hard, and has helped us achieve stability at the club, and I sincerely thank him for his efforts. I hope and believe that he will go on to have a successful career in management.”

Assistant manager James Fowler has been placed in temporary charge of first team affairs and will oversee this evening’s home game against Grimsby Town in the leasing.com Trophy. The process to appoint a new Sunderland manager will commence tomorrow.

Worried that If Ross has gone then SD is deflecting the flack from takeover collapsing

I’m going all bipolar here since I was positive about the tweets but I think SD has pulled the trigger with Ross due to issues with the takeover. Possibly Maybe oh fk it who knows!!!

To be fair had the takeover collapsed AND we continued to persist with Ross wouldnt that be worse?
If the intent is to deflect flack it is a masterstroke.

Maybe the issues were the yanks wanted him to sack Ross before they took over but he wouldn’t. Maybe he has now as the yanks said they were pulling out. I don’t know but I’m more hopeful

Could be a coincidence but wasn't Coleman sacked just before Donalds take over? Maybe the sticking point has need the Americans want a new manager but Donald wanted to stick with Ross. It's finally got to the point were the Yanks have said it's him or us, Donald has seen the reaction to the possible collapse of the takeover so thought **** it and sacked Ross. Take over completed by the weekend, new manager in by the next game (I ****ing hope So anyway)!

Seems strange to sack Ross in the middle/end of takeover...if the takeover is off (according to the sun) why sack Ross now?

The timing of the sacking is very interesting, you arent happy with results and thats the sole reason you sack him then you do it 24-48 hours after the game not a two days later and hours before a match

Donald has said "don't give up hope just yet though" in response to deal being off
