What??? We would have been out of business if it wasn't for Donald.. Regardless of whether the investors have pulled out or not, at least we still have a bloody club for Christ's sake..
Sorry but that is a crock.
Yes he reduced some wages but it was short who saved us..again.
He took us over when drumaville and keane left a shed load of debt.
When short left he left us debt free..
He used very little of his own money and relied on parachute payments.
He has steadied the ship maybe but he has hardly saved us from oblivion or any other far fetched doom.
I think he has gotten used to the limelight and erstwhile adoration.
However he is rapidly using up his store of goodwill by the unwarranted loyalty he continues to show for ross.
By the way the maja/ Briggs debacle was a massive own goal.
Akin to selling harry kane and bringing in benteke with the proceeds. We would have been better off just keeping the proceeds.

*****THIS ISN'T OFF SMUG/RIV*****
It's also just a bit of a rumour and I can't say if it's true or not but you can make your own minds up. I'm not ITK or passing this one as 100% truth

"I've been told to ignore rumours its off and that its very much still on."

With that in mind Donald's tweet has me confused tbh.

I've got a theory. Just a theory based on messages we've both had and on Donalds tweets:

We've been told (and its it's on main board so I'm not breaking any confidences) that the issue is partly to do with them being anxious about the level of debt some clubs get into while chasing the PL (some other big clubs included). I admit it would surprise me that they bid without knowing all of this but let's run with it.

Now all of a sudden we hear it's off but Donald is on saying still hopeful but being very careful to say investment all the time, not takeover or similar.

So how about this idle speculation: they wanted to buy the club outright. They agreed a price. For whatever reason they've now got cold feet because of the potential costs involved. They decide to walk away.

Donald can't afford to lose them so he tries to keep them involved. Not as owners, but by offering a much smaller stake, not unlike what Sartori has.

So Donald gives them the chance to be involved and to invest, but not massively, not enough to be concerned about huge debts, just enough for Donald to believe he can get us at least out of this league and hopefully do well in the league above (whether he's capable is a different argument). They have very little risk. If Donald does well they take over fully. Costs them a bit more but with much less risk. Donald benefits because he gets to stay for now, doesn't have to deal with the fallout if they walk, and might get more money from them later.

Whether they'd accept is anyone's guess but it could be why he is mentioning investment, saying it's possible but not sounding certain. It makes as much sense as anything else I can think of tbh

The don has tweeted hel update us at the weekend so surely if was 100% off he’d just confirm it and be done
Im reading it as they have told him they won't be following it up, he is trying last ditch efforts to push it through. I think smug intimated earlier that there was a take it or leave it meeting tomorrow which seems spot on to what is being reported now

Takeover off. Ross Gone. We are still ****. Donald tweeting weird stuff - the emotions of being a Sunderland supporter eh

Personally I think this adds more to weight to my idea that the new owners want SD and CM out.

Think logically

A rumour surfaces that the deal is off, the messageboards and twitter turn to fire with SD having to come out and attempt to calm things down, they meeting starts tomorrow with "so Stewart, about you wanting to stay on and us not wanting you?"

Its bargaining in my opinon

Short ran up massive debts, Short left us in league 1.

This. Who the **** has sacked him! If the takeover is breaking down surely Donald is a bit preoccupied! It makes more sense if the deals gone through but since Donald has just been commenting (and clearly not saying it has) that can't be the case. This ****ing club man, what the ****s happening!

I honestly don't know why people bother mate. It isn't worth it, I would just PM a few people who I could trust and that Confucius fella should be top of everyone's list. That's what he is on Tinder
Had away man! people's 'Block' lists don't count! :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I don't entirely blame Short for the financial mess he left the club in and it was kind of him to only get £40 million or so back of the money he put into the club, but you surely have to give some credit to Donald for getting us back on a financial level playing field..
