Supers Mate you only read and believe what you want so find me anything I have posted that backs this up!! You might want to think that all Ipswich posters want to have a go bgut in all fairness I think we have been quite rational in this debate! You are taking stuff and blowing it up to suit your own arguements and to feed your own anti Ipswich prejudices!
bugger me, you lot really are nuts! do any of you ever actually believe the stuff you post on here???
barcelona don't have a plan b. this is extremely well known. its unusual for a club to be good enough defensively to beat them but chelsea were and thoroughly deserved their victory over the two games. norwich do not play one system or style of play. they cannot be found out in the way they set up. thats part of our success. So basically chelsea FOUND OUT a system where you need to focus on the central areas defensive and let the wide men have the ball. so in that instance there is the evidence that not only a club can get found out, but in my view the best club in the world got found out. so in that instances, you will most certainly have got FOUND OUT no matter what system, perhaps that is why Lambchop changes so much because a system has got FOUND OUT so he has to change (which might or might not work) and then it is up to the opposition to change which invaribly most teams have 2 or 3 different styles, so Norwich aren't anything new in this concept.
Hate to stick up for a scummer, but I actually think he is right in some of the points he has made. Course he wants us to fail, just like we want them to fail. He was looking for reasons which could be a cause for concern next season and most of the reasons are valid points. Next season is going to be hard and Guru has stated reasons why, the fact we can get found out. I know we switch the way we play a lot, but we always go at teams and I think teams will look to exploit are attacking mentality next year. Not many teams expected us to go for that approach maybe the reason for a succesful season. Also teams will look at defensive errors this season and pressure our defence more, regardless of who we sign. I agree also about a poor end to season can damage mentally, it's always in the back of the heads I don't care if they do go on holiday and refresh they will always be slightly worried about the end of the previous season. It's the same if we had a good end to the season, and i've seen people saying on here about beating Villa and Liverpool will mean we can go into next season confident. To say it won't happen if we have a poor end to season is pretty naive. The points guru have said are pretty expected from a Ipswich fan, looking at possibilities why we could go down, I hardly blame him, we could give reasons why they won't have a successful season. We have reasons why we can stay up, but we should focus on the negative points and see what we can do to make sure it's not a problem next season.
The same can be easily levelled at you mate! You are trying to paint anyone that doesn't agree with you as being irrational. It just makes you look silly when all Guru was doing was giving his opinions which are not totally implausible!
once again you have missed one of norwich's core strengths - lambert mixes it up. we have a plan b, c, d, e and f. if a team chooses to press us he can change and adapt to accomodate this. we aren't tied down to one system. when chelsea put barca under pressure they carried on doing the things which didn't work. now thats down to the manager changing his philosophy, something barca didn't want to do and they failed because of it. sometimes, you just get beaten by a much better side, no matter what you do, just as we were against man city, but we aren't competing with them. we only need to beat the teams in and around the bottom half to stay up. its really not rocket science.
Thanks YellowLittle, I'm glad one norwich fan can read a post in a unbiased way without the rivalry kicking in.
look, i have stated all along that we are in a relegation battle next year, but what i am saying is that we will start EVERY season in a relegation battle. there are only about 6 teams who don't each season. you don't have to be a genius to see that. however, that doesn't mean WE are destined for the drop - there are 14 others who we are competing with, so the odds are clearly in our favour. 2nd season syndrome is a myth - very few teams have gone down in their 2nd season but cos ipswich were one of them, their fans assume we will do likewise. we might go down, but we won't if we learn from this season. seeing as we've learnt from the previous two, i see no reason why we won't again
interesting place to leave this debate but i'm now about to go into the crucible to watch the snooker!
including this season 10 teams have gone down in their second season since the start of the premier league, but more interestingly it works out that 6 teams in the last 6 seasons have gone down in their second season. this shows that there is a definate pattern to the second season being as hard if not harder than the first. that equates to 33.3333333% of teams that gets promoted go down in their second season.
Not too sure what you expected the Ipswich fans to say? Guru made some valid points, and points I would consider factors which make next season difficult. I am positive about next year and I don't really care if Ipswich fans disagree, it's all opinions and there are entitiled to have theirs and enjoying debating it out. I like the fact we get other supporters opinions on this forum, not everything is through yellow tinted glasses.
Our glass is half-full though, so that means 66.6666666% of teams that get promoted stay up in their second season. Better chance than going down, I think you'll agree
No because 44.4444444444444% of promoted teams will go down in their 1st season (if QPR goes down this season) or 38.888888888% if QPR stay up. that would mean at best you have a 28.444444444444444% ish chance of surviving past 2 seasons.
Would love to know how you got to these calculations and why not use the Premier League as a whole and not just the years that make it look worse for us. In any case, I wonder what the chances were of Norwich getting two successive promotions and then finishing around 14th place in our first season in the Premier League? I fancy our chances next season.
Fair point! What we are saying is that there is such a thing as "second season syndrome" and it can't be easily dismissed as an urban myth. Whether you stay up or go down after next season really makes no odds with me. All I really care about is how well we do but it is all part of the "forum experience" to share our opinions on our rivals.
because there has been a definate increase of the second season relegation in these years, probably due to the increase of overseas investors. I can't fiddle the numbers.
