The chinese model was broken and you know it.

The only reason that chart looks so good is because us western ****s have messed all our economies up and they still had cash/state assets to play around with.

Fine. So long as we're clear that your only motivation for giving a **** is the desire to piss on Great Britain, out of bitterness over historical injustice.

And rightly so, the Little Englanders like Kelvin MacKenzie are ****ed without us Jocks to blame for all their woes.

What was broken about China's implementation of pure socialism? I think we'd agree that the very thing that was broken was that it was top down management of an entire economy by a select few individuals - and a rigid egalitarian regime of trying to pay everyone exactly the same regardless of their output. Nobody had any incentive to produce more than they personally needed since they would not be able to sell their excess for profit.

Gross Domestic Product is the total amount of goods the country creates - their chart is so good because they started creating a lot more goods once free-market incentives were brought in. The way it relates to our economy is not a zero-sum game (they win, we lose), it's the fact that we all got 5 pairs of socks for a pound in Primark, which was a good deal us for since we got cheap socks, and was a good deal for China since they used our pounds to eventually pull the majority of their population out of abject poverty.

It's not called Great because it's ****ing brilliant. It's called that to distinguish it from Petit Bretagne (little Britain) in NW France. Don't you know anything?

We are intellectual giants on here. But, let's face it, it isny too challenging to be an intellectual giant around here.

Where have I questioned why it's called "Great Britain"?

You must be so highly strung that any perceived slight against this ****ey bit of rock becomes a personal insult. What a sad, sad little man you are if that is the case.

There's a wee bit of bitterness alright, but if it was all about tribal politics for me I wouldn't be espousing some of the same free market principles that Thatcher was, since she was a right **** to my ethnic group. In reality there's no jobs in my home state - whereas there's plenty of jobs for me in southern Ireland (the south's problem is a lack of unskilled jobs such as construction, highly skilled tech jobs are booming). I just don't see how the status-quo in Northern Ireland (where we are fighting with India for cheap outsourced call centre jobs) is something which we should be arguing to maintain.

Speaking personally, and without trying to point score at all over anything, I love a bit of changing things up. It's why I haven't been able to settle down in the last 10 years - I like to change things for the sake of trying to achieve something better (which is why I am not a Conservative, who tend to want to slow progress rather than speed it up). Keeping the UK together for the sake of tradition just seems boring - we have the ability to try create two or more new states which can all go a different direction. Being selfish that is great news for me - I can choose the one which offers me the best combined deal for work / family life / social services / taxes... and it might very well be England!

I am quite attached to this ****ey bit of rock, certainly. Even though it's got ****s like you living on it, I'd still prefer not to see it broken up.

I'm all for a South-East new superstate, that would be really rich and we could just hand over the norf to the scots.

Do you reckon we could hand over Wales to the oirish? They're all proud celts, right?
