I was pointing out there'll be 2 reactions so no need for a book. A no vote is likely to spark a more intetrsting set of reactions in my opinion.

If they vote to stay in the UK, can we then vote to tell them to **** off out of it?

I was chatting to Fat Eck last night and he was talking about how wine would be exempt from price rises in an independent Scotland. He also said serious money would be invested in bionic hand technology.

    Just saying likes...

<laugh> just out of interest do you know why Scots living elsewhere in the UK won't get a vote? Is it purely logistics?

I dunno - I know as many in favour down here as are against it. That's why it's so difficult to predict - the guys in the industry I am involved in are more or less split down the middle.

Not sure why. It has something to do with the 'local election' model they chose. In my experience, Scots living abroad tend to be more patriotic than those living here and would be more inclined to vote Yes given the opportunity (Celtic supporting, Dundee United fan George "I want independence for Palesteine, Ireland etc." Galloway being the obvious exception.)

I think the main policy that is giving me pause for thought is remaining part of Sterling. I'm not quite sure how that would work.

It's the right thing to do - especially if you're insisting on a model of Civic nationalism as opposed to Ethnic Nationalism.

Ethnic Nationalists who live outside Scotland can GTF and open a wee racial Jonestown somewhere if they want.

Whereas, if you just turned up here yesterday, but are up for being Scottish, batter in - you're Scottish.

Civic Nationalism is what mature democracies display - Ethnic Nationalism belongs to the past.
