I was there too. The view from the cricket pavilion side was awful! We ended up behind the goal though. Scary afterwards because we couldn't find the coach!
Tues 9th March. It was rescheduled from the Sat (Mar 6th) as we played Stoke at B.P. in the 6th round of t'cup that day.
Two great games in 4 days. We' signed Bill Baxter and Ken Knighton the week before - I think they got the nod instead of Banks (Frank not Gordon) and Houghton in the Blunts match. Simpkin & Waggy scored for City. 40,000 or thereabouts at Bramhall Lane. I hitch-hiked to both games from Leeds.
Memorable week that was.

The 3-2 loss at the Blunts was the most enjoyable loss I've ever been to, the 4-3 loss at Old Trafford is the only other game I can think of that came close.
How times have changed since then, I've got two tickets for tomorrow and so far haven't managed to find anyone who wants to come with me.

Big crowd, 40,000, which was about 15,000 up on their previous home game but it wasn't a record crowd. Their record crowd is over 68,000.
More City fans there than at the KC nowadays.
Fleetwood Mac have really let themselves go, especially that Stevie Nicks (front, middle).
It was the highest gate of the season. Which Isn't a record.Ours was 27,000 for a league game.
By heck, that super 8 cine film did nothing for my eyesight. I was in the Well that day, next to the tunnel. Waggy scored both goals. We were outstanding that day and at Bramall Lane. The crowd at Sheffield was the biggest I'd been in and stayed that way till the 1990's. We really should have got promotion but we fell away in the last few weeks of the season. The memorable Simpkin goal was in the Chelsea replay in 1966.
HGS66, were you on the coach that Mr Taylor organised for Sheffield? He was a real United fan who taught us maths. I think he regretted doing it because although it let him see the match, he got torn apart inn school for days afterwards.
