Cheers, he's not so much arguing with people as just tweeting lots of people telling them off for stuff. <laugh>

I was actually referring to the goal Simpkin scored in the Bramall Lane match. The one he scored in the Chelsea replay at B.P. ('66) was a stunner as you suggest.
Waggy scored both in the game down at Stamford Bridge against Peter Bonetti (fabulous match that was too), but I've never been able to find filmed highlights of that match. Leavibg after the game in London, the Chelsea fans I spoke to were very complimentary about City - we gave 'em quite a scare that day.

FFS, it was Sheff Utd biggest gate of the season when they played us, from memory, that is enough for me. It was only 47 years ago after all.

You said it was a record crowd. It wasn't. It was the highest of the season. A record crowd is the highest ever.

" Sheffield, I suppose, could justify claim to be called the ugliest town in the Old World" wrote George Orwell.

Odd then that some of their fans choose to comment unfavourably on our own city's appeal and economic prosperity. This is, after all, the economic hotspot that inspired The Full Monty ( or T' Full Monteh, as it is known locally).

    I'll leave it there.

Actually no I won't, They even have a 'Wide' turnstile at t'Lane for fat folk, and some locals still address each other in thee thy thou Olde English which died out centuries ago elsewhere.

Decent day out on Saturday against the newly-promoted League 1 team. Our own club is in a rare state of disarray and disintegration, all caused by Ehab Allam's catastrophic handling of managers and his transfer policy. I think relegation this season is a real possibility this season.

Sheffield were nowt special, nowhere near the quality of Wolves. Team spirit and enthusiasm was enough to see them past our sorry bedraggled shadow of a Hull City 'team'.

I was lucky enough to meet King Keith before the game and shook the great man's hand and told him " **** this lot off Keith and come to City where you are loved and respected." He nodded and smiled appreciatively.

Sheffield are punching above their weight this season and their quiet fans suddenly piped up in the second half as the goals started going in. Decent turn out from Hull. Proper loyal support- backing a directionless and losing team in meltdown, with only one away win in a year.

That's genuine support- not being prompted into singing a tacky John Denver song twice a game.

    Onwards and downwards.

We sure did, I was there at both games, at Stamford Bridge we had a clear cut penalty turned down by Taylor the referee also, hand ball on the line. Jock Davidson told me once he never forgave Jack Taylor for that.

Wonder if Video Ref facilities could have helped Taylor ? Mind you, if they had been around that year ('66) we may never have won the World Cup with sophisticated technology scrutinizing Geoff Hurst's critical "goal" !:emoticon-0100-smile
