Sir Bobby, apparently not good enough for Pompey but a Saints hero for the last 48yrs and counting. I was standing right behind the line of that shot and although not hit with much force you could see it was heading right into the corner. With all the Utd internationals and Saints having Channon and Osgood, there was something of the romance of the FA Cup about him scoring the only goal of the game. Outside of Southampton and Pompey hardly anyone had even heard of him. Not being able to drive his match winner's prize of a new car and still living at home with his parents, he was the antithesis of the modern footballer even back then.
He cut a sad figure after his playing days were over and died aged 44. A real shame.
