The only time I have been to Villa's ground was for the semi final against Watford. We were right up in the Gods. It was like watching the children play Subbuteo at the bottom of the garden from your back bedroom window. The players were little more than dots.

I remember Mauricio’s first game (Everton?).....only a draw, but what a promising match. Everyone was so excited about it...and remember we had only just lost Nigel (a very popular manager).

Should all these details be wrong....put it down to my advanced years :)

From memory I don’t think people were excited before the game, think there was some protest waving white scarves or something. But after the game I think everyone could see what a change he had made in just a few days so the excitement grew from there.

Seriously though, he is on a 3 year deal at that salary and they paid £25m+ for him. With his 4 goals so far he has cost them about £11m per goal <laugh>

Strange thing is that works out at £120k/week - we must have offered close to that. Grass isn't always greener.

Talksport kick off their drive show with Goldstein asking why JWP isn’t regularly linked with “bigger clubs”.

His two suggestions - Everton and Spurs.
 
It’s been ages since I have listened to TalkSport Drive. Why on Earth is Jack Wilshere on? He has no sense of humour whatsoever

There is some gag they are trying where they were playing the Russian/Soviet anthem and calling him a Russian weightlifter. His response “You know I have actually stood there and sang the National anthem for my country, have you?”.

Lighten up mate. I know you have screwed your career up and are too arrogant to drop down to your actual level to actually get back to playing but you can take a joke when you are sitting their on your cushy “jobs for the boys” gig

I think this underlines how valuable Semmens is to the club. He's shown confidence in Ralph and there has never been murmurings about sacking him when he could have. He knows it's been difficult to keep the team competitive with the financial constraints Ralph has worked under. Ralph has bought into how the club works and has never bleated about no money to spend. It's a good relationship I think and probably quite rare in the PL.
My concern is not Ralph but that Semmens gets pushed out by the new owners (unlikely I think) or more likely he is poached.

Hasn’t Semmens been given a role in the company that now owns us and will own any future clubs in the planned group. It’s going to surely take some offer to poach him

I am sure they have all asked about his availability and have been politely told to **** off.

More importantly why is anyone still listening to Talkshit. I lasted ten minutes and never went back again.
