The nearest thing I can equate to Les and his alleged errors and ineptitude is Colonel Blimp, but he was only a cartoon character. How do explain his rise through the ranks to a Directorship? He must have done something right somewhen!

I'm going to suggest that I'm way too young for whoever that is! <laugh>

Of course Les has done something right...he's had this job for some time and during some of our better seasons. He has pulled back from being such a public figure, but he has held his position so his employers must consider he is earning his pay. Just become fashionable to treat him as a figure of fun....lots of people have been involved in where we are and what has happened in recent seasons.

Everyone has to have a pantomine villain in their life I guess, the "Person To Blame" syndrome is alive and well.

Or some people can clearly see where things have gone wrong and so are apportioning the majority of the blame in the direction of the guy who said he had full control over football matters.

Bonkers, eh?

None of us have any idea what constraints he has been under. As the man in charge of the footballing side I would imagine Les would love to throw money at the team and be able to sit on the board and say he'd done his job. Perhaps he is at fault, but I would guess that he would have lost his job if the board considered it was all his fault. None of us are insiders....I have no reason to blindly support Les, but none of us know what is going on really.

A very reasoned response, so different to what would have been said on the Daily echo site e.t.c. Some of the hatred is truly obsessive, but none can actually produce the evidence needed to convict!

Although his having the title of Vice Chairman (Football) would tend to suggest that the buck must stop fairly adjacent to his office,

Would a thread for online pre-season previews, predictions etc be good? There are quite a few starting to come out now.

Sure, if only because I might aggregate them to get a 'consensus' table, as I am curious how accurate that would be compared to the predictions competition.

Tadic update, and if you wanted to keep him it's not a good one. He is doing quite well. I totally missed that he scored his first Champions League goal v Sturm Graz last week, but he's just got another goal and an assist v Standard. Here they all are.

See, imagine if we’d kept Tadić and bought Huntelaar.

Ho hum...
