Just seen the transfer window thread is closed, even though the actual window is not technically closed and players will be going out on loan. Don’t think we will, but if we did let Bednarek go out on loan, then it might be an acknowledgment that three at the back is in the past as the default formation
I like Bedders, but we have a wealth of competition in that department. We need to stay in the cups this season, real bad. Game time will be tough for so many.
If anyone is interested enough to care, theres veen a few squad number changrs from that previously released. Sam McQueen is now 12. Sam Gallagher is now 15. Harrison Reed is now 19. Jake Flannigan no longer has a number.
http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport...-7m-for-stuart-armstrong-is-money-well-spent/ Interview with Ross Wilson talking about the cost of players and how he is pleased with the Stuart Armstrong transfer (that's because he is talking to a Scottish paper). The article mentions that Wilson turned down the chance to be Director of Football at Rangers.
Premier League world has a short piece on Saints this week. Interviews with the Gaffer, Kelv D, Head of Sports Science and some of the new boys. Lots of the same stuff we've heard before - better than our position last season, short on confidence not quality. Rammed home to me how close we were to relegation last season and how fortunate we are to be in the EPL. Hughes talked about the defeat to Chelsea and the draw at Everton as being particularly hard to take. I was sweating just thinking about it. Reinforced that its good to have a steady hand at the wheel even if we need to temper our expectations this year. We have had a bloody good window and the new boys look like very good additions. Kelv said our goal this season is to break top10 and build from there which is interesting. Vestergaard is being brought in to lead our back line - said he needs to get the respect of the squad before he can start giving out orders.
