You have first to glean all of the evidence that would condemn him, are we sure he is the only one guilty as charged, to make this many mistakes normally takes a Committee rather than a single entity.

Okay, I don't know the answer anyway.
But the point is, he was more than happy to take the credit when things were going well with his claims of how he's responsible for the entire football side. Therefore now things have gone a bit wrong he will (rightly) take the stick.
