I was thinking similar. Ralph might not want to overly restrict himself to primarily buying British.
I would hate to lose Ralph as a result of this being true, (it’s the Mail) and him not agreeing to it.
Thinking further ahead, would the rules for EU players, after Brexit, change to being in line with those of non EU players, stopping the lower quality, non international players from being allowed to play here? In which case buying British wouldn’t be a bad option, at least until the B word has been resolved, as we wouldn’t want a situation where we can’t play half the squad owing to a change in work permit rules.

There would never be a situation where an EU national already in situ would have their work permit effectively revoked.
New recruits may well come under similar rules, but these hypotheticals seem further away than the day after the vote

You might well be right, but there would probably be a cut off point, whereby all clubs have to ship players out, probably at giveaway prices, as no sensible club would pay a massive fee for a player that could be stopped from playing by new regulations being brought in.

Why would EU nationals be any worse off than other non-EU nationals, of whom Saints have had plenty of success in importing over the years?

Doesn’t it all depend on international caps, and regularity of appearance (non EU) as to their eligibility to play here?
I was just thinking that many of our overseas players tend to be fringe rather than regular internationals, who then, sometimes, become regulars as a result of playing for us.
All I was suggesting is that the same rules would possibly apply to EU players.
