I see I see from the Saints website that the players award diner has happened, did I miss something? Was it not televised on line like previous years? We're the public invited to attend? It passed without any publicity as has been the case in previous years
I suspect the club was afraid it could all turn embarrassing if they invited fans to get tickets as they have done before...a few weeks ago things were looking a big ugly. Some people might have gone to cause trouble. Stoke cancelled theirs altogether as inappropriate.
This is quite interesting: Sky have calculated the average league position of every club that has spent at least 10 seasons in the four top divisions over the last 50 years. Saints’ average position is 17th, which is 11th best of all, and one could argue that as we actually finished 17th this season, we neither overachieved nor underachieved. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...erachieving-and-underachieving-clubs-revealed The biggest overachievers this season were Bournemouth, who finished 44 places above their average rank of 56th. Portsmouth, on the other hand, finished in 52nd place, 12 below their average of 40th.
17th, yeah that figures. In my time as a fan we have probably spent the most time in and around 17th. No shame at all.
I think that Kreuger and Reed avoided an interview because at the moment they would not be able to answer the main question to be asked: Is Hughes getting the job? Reed will reappear when the new manager is announced.
I just looked up our finishing positions over the last 50 years and believe it or not, until this season we only finished 17th twice before, in 1995-96 and 1998-99.
Always worth a watch. I was there (yes, I used to go to games) and after Mane's second goal I asked my neighbour if it was worth sitting down...well, it wasn't!!
