Unless these are standard clauses slipped into most EPL contracts in the small print.....after all, you never know. Imagine selling a player to Leicester and not including a clause about winning the EPL. :) We have been masters of sneaky clauses in the past.....remember how Arsenal ended up paying money every time one of our ex-players stepped on the pitch for a fixed number of minutes....Wenger tried to get round it by putting him on for fewer minutes, but Saints still ended up getting paid as he forgot about injury time. Putting a clause about the CL would seem reasonable.

Well yes but it is all about how much. When a fee gets reported the club will rarely end up paying the full amount as it is based on clauses and how well the player/buying team does. Say the Mane deal, was reported we got £34m, I can't see us saying "yeah cool £1m up front and £33m if you win the Champs League".

If there are additional payments (which I think is reasonable) I can't see them being much except for possibly VVD as the fee was so huge and Liverpool were in the knockout stages of the CL when they bought him and he was eligible to play a part for them in the CL this season.

As far as I know Saints will get around £20m if we win the CL due to add-ons in the sale of Clyne, Lallana, Mane and VvD, not sure about Lovren.
So your owner, directors and Mark Hughes will be cheering us on in the final.

Where has this £20m figure come from?

He is full of ****. The only player where that would have been talked about is Virgil, but we were more concerned about the fee/upfront than clauses.
And being serious, I'd rather us miss out on a couple mill than watch those two faced money obsessed blackpool cheating twatty beard cocks lifting the trophy.
Come on Madrid! Do 'em!
