Given the number of Polish people in the city, we'll probably have a few in the academy soon, if we don't already.

Right, I can spend a bit of time on this. OK, so we have:

Alan Shearer 3.67
MLT 2.58
Marian Pahars 3.46
Egil Ostenstadt 3.3
James Beattie 3
Stern John - 2.6
Kenwyne Jones - 3.63
Kevin Philips - 2.8
Peter Crouch - 2.06
Marek Saganowski - 3.89
That Lambert bloke - 1.96

8 to go. I'll steal these...

Grezgorizyzzz Rasiak
Lee Barnard
Ricardo Fuller
Billy Sharp
Ronnie Ekelund [that's my solitary own guess :) ]

plus 3 more..? [complete shots in the dark]

Henri Camara..?
Jonno Forte..?
Jay Rodriguez..?

I was going to suggest Paul Rideout, but he scored all his goals for Saints before football was invented..! Which is a shame because I thought he was a great striker and yet it was just my imagination playing tricks on me. And Colin Clarke. Another prolific striker who didn't exist. :)

Grezgorizyzzz Rasiak - 2.63 (he only seemed to score away)
Lee Barnard - 3.0
Ricardo Fuller - 3.66
Billy Sharp - The only one to have a better record than Lambert 1.8 (10 in 18 games)
Ronnie Ekelund [that's my solitary own guess :) ] - Yes, bang on 4 (5 goals from 20)....A legend because he played so few

plus 3 more..? [complete shots in the dark]

Henri Camara..? - well done 2.66
Jonno Forte..? - The one i hoped would be missed 3.75 (4 in 15)
Jay Rodriguez..? On Fire TSS Currently 3.84

Thanks for all the answers, I apologise for my absence. It must be like shouting names in a dark room!
I reply to TSS as he has condensed all the answers.

Only one remains.....:-)

Yeah. Bullet header. I really rated him as a striker. Seems to be one of those players people forget. The before mentioned Colin Clarke is another.

Thats Liverpool match is still one of my all time favourite games. Clarke averaged 2.51 for Saints. Why did he end up leaving? Was it injury?

Just as I have these stats and to appease the older generation. Here is a related question.

7 Post War Saints players have played over 50 times for Saints and have a better strike rate than Rickie Lambert (currently 1.96) or 1 in 2. Who are these club legends?
