Obvious ones are Ron Davies and Mick Channon. Then probably Martin Chivers, George O'Brien, Derek Reeves, and then I'm struggling.

Ron Davies of course 1.83 (A brilliant 153 in 281 appearances and not all with his head)
Mick Channon does not make it, a poor 2.66 (Out all time top scorer got his 228 goals in 607 games)
Martin Chivers 1.79 (106 in 190, no wonder transfer records were smashed)
    George O'Brien 1.56 (Scored the most of our 7 - 180 in 281)
    Derek Reeves 1.79 (173 in 311)

That's 4 down from Chilco....we still have the player who can beat O'Briens average of a goal every 1 1/2 games

One of the remaining 3 must be Charlie Wayman. His record is supposed to be something like nearing a goal a game.

I can remember loads of Ron's and Channon's goals but not one of MacDougall's.

I do remember a cracker Boyer scored against Shilton at the Dell but that is all.

In answer to the question of why Colin Clarke was let go by Saints, he just lost form in the face of a new generation of Saints who were on their way through, like MLT, Rod Wallace, Shearer, etc. But while he was at his best he was a great striker for us.

Bang on TSS.....1.38 and the most dangerous striker in our history according to goals per game. He hit 77 goals in 107 matches, close to 2 hours a goal :)

What about Super Kev Keegan?.... I can remember him scoring bundles of goals for us in the 2 seasons he was here.

Here is a another great "goal", tragically disallowed for a phantom offside.

I suppose we should be grateful that that goal would have been allowed nowadays. What a cracker.

You're right Saints Alive. Super Kev is in there with 1.9 goals a game. 42 goals in 80 games.
The last player left is the hardest and he is from the 1950s

I had no idea who it was (had plenty of ideas until I saw post war), ended up looking him up and I've never actually heard of him.

That's the one. That name got past me. Looked him up and he appears he felt [and was] overshadowed by Wayman, who he superseded.
