Are you switching your allegiance from Ramirez to Osvaldo FLT;)? I don't agree with tiggermaster that "Ozvaldo isn't prepared to put in a full shift" but he hasn't really shown much yet (apart from that goal obviously). I still think we look so much better when Lambert plays as even if he doesn't tear up defences he always brings people into the game with great control and neat passing.

No, not at all, just as you say, I don't agree with his comment about putting in a shift. He hasn't shown us masses yet for sure, but it annoys me when people translate that as "not putting in a shift"

I totally agree with that. Actually, I wouldn't even say that of Ramirez.

Juventus forward Fabio Quagliarella has emerged as a top January target for Southampton, according to reports in Italy.

Juve are said to be keen to offload the 30-year-old in the new year and have offered him to several Premier League clubs, including Saints and Swansea City.
Quagliarella has started just three Serie A matches this season and is behind Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente in the pecking order in Turin.
The experienced forward, who can also operate out wide, will have no shortage of options in January should he be made available for transfer but a switch to the Premier League is likely to appeal.

Southampton are being linked with a January move for former Arsenal defender Havard Nordtveit, it has emerged.
The Saints are looking to make additions to their squad this January after struggling to maintain a fine start to the Premier League this season, and SportsDirect News understands that the Norwegian, who currently plays for Borussia Monchengladbach, has emerged as a top target for manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The 23-year-old has impressed since moving to the Bundesliga, having failed to make the grade at Arsenal as a youngster.
It is thought that a number of other Premier League clubs are monitoring him as well, including West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United, though the Saints are currently showing the strongest interest

Good player. He plays for a team that are 4th in the Bundesliga and he is having a good season.

I'm always up for a Scandinavian centre back. They seem to suit the Premier League.

I used to sign him without fail on Football Manager, he must be good.

Quagliarella seems a bit too old for our transfer policy, but there's no doubting that he's a class act.

Be careful what you wish for when it comes to Norwegian international CBs!

Speaking of, seems like Cardiff have a similar situation to our Vegard Forren experience going on with Andreas Cornelius, as he is fit and ready, but they can’t understand why he doesn’t ever play, after a £7m outlay or whatever it was. Malky Mackay (surely a cert to be next manager out) has gone on record calling him ‘one for the future’, which seems to have been one of the many things further igniting Vincent Tan’s ire and unwillingness to part with any more transfer cash.

This is totally illogical, but my usual reaction to hearing of Saints interest in a Scandinavian CB is negative, and that feeling way pre-dates Forren. Why shouldn't a great CB come from those countries..? We've had one, perhaps two in the last couple of decades.

When I think of great CB pairings who didn't cost a ton and didn't play for the "big clubs", my mind does immediately go to Lundekvam-Svensson and Mellberg-Laursen.

We need to concentrate on younger, hungry players who want to prove themselves not 30+ players who have fallen down their clubs selection list??leave that to WHU and others with an ambition only to survive in the EPL.
We are aiming higher!
