The idea may be fanciful but I have seen a report somewhere that ManC are making him available providing they can get the right keeper in.
That may be a load of twaddle, of course.

Well Pellegrini has strongly denied all of it.

Diego naming Adam Lallana as a reason to join the club. Is this the same Adam Lallana who was in League 1 three years ago? What an incredible rise

It's still strange to me when people have heard of our players, let alone spontaneously naming them as top-class talents they'd like to play alongside.

Crikey that does read slightly strange though really it shouldn't be. Adam's skills have been nurtured well out of the limelight and it's only this season and his England call-up where those skills have come to a world stage. What we've known for years, others are just waking up to. I'm going to find that Academy video of him doing his stuff at 16-17. Ah, here it is. Blimey, it's blurry. Then again, this is from 2004-05ish I suspect, and the capacity to make and upload crystal clear videos wasn't quite so good back then. If you can't identify him, he's the one doing the blimey that's good stuff..! Anyway, once again, here is Adam Lallana Football Genius:

An update from the same source, a certain Chris Taylor. [thought it had the same feel]. This predates the Premier League so I expect we'll see a further update before too long. But for now, Adam Lallana Southampton FC Superstar:

Why would anyone believe that it is a move that he would want? He's been with us through the worst possible times and could easily have jumped ship. Why would any credible source think that just as the world is beckoning for the Saints and for Adam that he would want away?

Because its Liverpool and he plays for Southampton.

Its the football food chain and hierarchy. No-one is immune. It sucks but its the way it goes. Just as LFC will lose their best player to a bigger club (Real/Bayern/Arsenal less so), Southampton will lose their best player(s) to bigger clubs too. Who he goes to depends on whose interested. If CFC, MUFC, Arsenal, City want Lallana bad enough then LFC have no chance.

It might not be Lallana as he seems a good loyal local kid, but Wanyama, Schneiderlin (could help get him in France team too if moves to a bigger club more exposure), Shaw, Clyne are all vulnerable to bigger clubs swooping (Chavs already talking about Shaw and Manc fans seem to be wanting Lallana).

Lallana's an Everton fan so you've got that working against you.

I can't speak with any surety about Osvaldo, Wanyama or Lovren [although all are coming along very nicely, especially Lovren], as yet, but I can tell you that nobody at Southampton FC is going be leaving because they want to succeed as part of Southampton. It's more significant to succeed here. You can't know the details of what is happening here because you're concentrating on your own team, but you'll find out that all the players are tuned into the ambition right here that Saints want to change the hierarchy. I'm not just saying that, they do themselves. So look elsewhere for your star players.

Ours are simply not leaving, although you might want to watch out that we don't pounce on one of your targets. :)

Swansea fans said exactly the same about Joe Allen 2 weeks before we signed him. Thats football.

I don't want Lallana as we have Coutinho who plays a similar role, we need a DM moreso than another attacking player. He hasn't proved himself as a top 4 caliber player and thats were we have to get this season and are looking good for it so far anyway. If he keeps it up for the rest of the season and next I'll be proven wrong but so many new Prem players set the world on fire for a season, then regress to the norm. He did nothing of note for England with the likes of Rooney, Sturridge and Lampard around him but this could be down to Roy and England more so than Lallana.

If you believe your better players won't upsticks as soon as the biggest clubs come calling like they have done with every other team that has ever played in the Prem you are very naive, almost to the point of delusion. Money talks for almost any player. The only one who might stay is Lallana based on what I know about the kid and his past/development.

Saints aren't any special exception to the rule that has been proven to apply since the formation of football. If Chelsea come in for Shaw and offer him £150,000pw, if not more like they did to get Hazard, he's gone. Simple as.

Thats hilarious.

I expect you to announce the signing of Coutinho anyday now.

We are Liverpool, you are Southampton who have been in the big time 2 mins again. Remember your position in the hierachy or be very disappointed.

A number of clubs have tried to sign Lallana, at a time when Saints were in the lower leagues. Steve Bruce flat-out stated that he attempted to do so when he was managing Sunderland, which would have been a step up at the time in level and in money, and Lallana didn't want the move.

Edit: it's fun moving up the WUM food chain, at the very least. Disappointed that the quality doesn't scale as you ascend, though; Liverpool WUMs appear to be roughly on par with those of Leicester, and a step below those of West Ham, it must be said.

Is Liverpool a step up on Southampton?

Yes on the historical side of it but no on the ambition side and certainly no on the quality of football aspect. Stevie G used to be a pull factor for players too but now you look at that side and think who are the star attractions? Answer is there's only one in Luis Suarez but he's expressed a desire to leave anyway so nobody would go for that reason.

I genuinely see us as a better football team than Liverpool at this point in time which can be exhibited by their 0-1 defeat to us which entirely flattered them.

Yes. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here folks...

Well, as I said, you have no idea what is happening down here. But suffice to say, we ain't going away. Remember what we've said in a couple of season's time. I'll try to. :)

Gee wiz of course we know that Liverpool is a step up in the hierarchy of football as far club for club goes......For now.......However Liverpool do not have any greater ambition than Saints. Our Chairman will not rest until we can be considered as one of the top 6/7 sides in the country. We have a long way to go admitted but you do have to admit that Liverpool while still a big club has not really been in that bracket for quite a while until more recently.
In truth we are happy for teams to under estimate us, both on the field and in terms of ambition. Like all things though we will have to see.
Perhaps we should remind certain Liverpool posters of the results between the sides during the two games we have had this year. Would they not agree that that at least shows how far we have come forward and while yet maybe not considered a big club, we are making strides in leaps and bounds to that eventual status.
