If we can keep him off the treatment table and on the pitch.....I would very much like this purchase (if it comes off).
he has suffered a lot through injury, strangely I seem to recall that they were mainly different injuries, out a long time with shoulder injuries a few years back, so I'm putting down to bad luck

Wasn't referring to any individual message - haven't seen anything you've posted on the matter. Are you genuinely itk?

Was told a while back by someone who would know, and posted on here that we wanted Theo, and that he was keen on the move back (and basic terms were agreed).

I am a bit surprised by the enthusiasm for Walcott. He was terrific when he was with us originally but I feel he never fulfilled his promise with Arsenal and is too injury prone. Whilst there is no doubt he would be a player who would be fully committed to our cause, it would be a poor acquisition in my opinion as he would be unlikely to play week in, week out. I expected him to go on to great things yet Walcott never emerged as the world class player he could potentially become as he seemed to go from injury crisis to injury crisis and his England performances were generally underwhelming. I don't feel he would be a good buy. I would have to say the same about Sturridge too even if he is the better of the two if he stays fit.

However, I think that we should try a poach Dembele, a player with potential who would have the added benefit of frustrating Brenden Rodgers which would be quite satisfying. Nice to think of Celtic as our feeder club!!!

Walcott has been hit with Saints fans’ level of expectations. He has been an excellent player for Arsenal. He may not have reached World Class but he is a very good player and better than most of our options in the attacking part of the pitch.

I agree entirely about his injury problems, however any player is a gamble in terms of injuries. We lost our best player for 6 months last season and Jay broke down in his prime and never recovered. It can happen but with Theo I’d take the gamble. He could even help Nathan.

If he plays, then my goodness he is good enough for us. Even this Year he he something like 3 goals and 5 or 6 assists (we could do with that). He still has his raw pace and directness... as long as he’s told to use that.

Sturridge I agree with you on and of course Dembele.

He is better than Redmond. If we had him fit 50% of the time then that would be an upgrade. I think the question is can we buy better with the money? Would we be taking another gamble on a non-PL player? At this stage I’m happier to have someone we know can perform in the PL rather than another punt.

It's time we up our wages of so - not calling for us to go mental and hand out ridiculous deals but it is required for us to grow.

I'm not so sure having Austin, Walcott and Sturridge in the same squad is sensible. You might get 38 games between them I suppose

Sturridge’s often sullen attitude worries me too. We could do without a moody no-can-do player right now.

Theo likes to play through the middle and considers it his best position, whether we can play the ball that will use his pace is the question. he is a good finisher, Sturridge is a slightly better finisher, but adds nothing to the team
