BBC saying he's close to going to Everton .

Everton are close to agreeing a deal with Arsenal to sign forward Theo Walcott in a permanent transfer worth in excess of £20m.

It is likely Walcott, 28, has played his last game for the Gunners, whom he joined from Southampton 12 years ago.

Southampton were among clubs interested in signing him, but Everton's offer is set to fend off rivals.

Walcott is also enticed by the prospect of Toffees manager Sam Allardyce helping to reignite his career.

For what it’s worth, the Mirror are claiming that Everton have matched Theo’s wages and are now confident of signing him.

Edit see above post .

Interesting that Sam is part of his reason for going . I would imagine he is more inspirational than MP2 , but what wouldn't be .

Seeing as a lot of people have said they want a right winger, if Walcott goes to Everton would anyone be keen on trying to get Lennon?

Oh I am certain money is probably THE thing , but would inspire you more ?:)

What would inspire me in Walcott's position? He wants to play, I'd imagine. Whether he'd prefer playing for a side battling relegation, or for a side with mid table in it's grasp, I don't know.

Allardyce could be a factor I suppose, but players know that bosses come and go - and it's not like Theo is at a point in his career where he will be looking for a coach who will dramatically improve his game. Perhaps he thinks Sam would play to his strengths - something Arsenal never did imo.

Apparently having a medical today ahead of £20m move, to Everton that is

So Walcott having a medical at Everton. IMHO our board have become a bloody joke. We have a chairman who talks the talk but never walks the walk. He backs the manager then doesn’t back him up in the transfer market (as to date). It was clear that Pellegrino wanted Walcott, but again the board don’t deliver, even with a wedge of money in the bank. Really hope they have a couple of jems up there sleeve, or think it will turn pretty toxic at home games especially.

Fee in excess of £20 million and wages well over £100,000. Would have liked Theo to come back as it would help lift the crowd and the club, but for those figures I'm glad we haven't gotten him.

Who cares, we just got 70 milion and a big chunk off the wage bill. Actually it's a pretty reasonable deal in the current market.
