Yeah good shout that. But I think that was pretty unanimous on both parts; most people didn't want Adkins sacked but quickly realised it was a good move.

I'm struggling to remember anything that there was strong disagreements over on here for a long time which has been settled so decisively.
I think when we get new owners may be the next time.

I don’t think there were many people who thought Bazunu was much good, more a hope that he could improve. Whether we would stick with him during that period/how much it would cost us was more the question.

I was fine with sticking with Baz this season after the poor start as I thought the season was a write off. Turns out we’ve gone on title winning form to put us right in the mix, Peretz playing a key part of that. So I was wrong as I agree we would’ve dropped more points than we have currently with Baz in goal

If we don’t go up seems a no brainer to sell Ramsdale and sign Peretz and net the profit. If he carries on his level of performance and we don’t go up then possible he goes elsewhere as I don’t believe the deal was a mandatory one.

It could all depend on the financials in the end, £7m is a lot to spend on one player as a Champ team going into their last parachute year

After all the millions that SR have wasted, I think £7 million for Peretz is a steal.

Agree but doesn’t change the fact that it’s a lot to spend for a Champ team. I’ve no idea what our financials are going to be like if we don’t go up when we have to comply with Champ rules a season later.

If we get promoted then it’s a bargain based on what we’ve seen so far.

Probably depends how quickly we can shift the others. I can see a situation where the Ramsdale sale takes too long and Peretz goes elsewhere.

Yeah quite possible. If we can get about £20m for Ramsdale then £7m for Peretz is a no brainer, even if we have to use the other £13m to balance the books

Best case really is Newcastle just buy Ramsdale, I’ve read they have an optional fee but not sure I’ve seen it anywhere official, and haven’t been watching them enough to know how he’s getting on there

They don't want to buy him apparently.

Yeah I suspected that might be the case. They definitely need an upgrade in goal and given their aspirations I thought they would be aiming higher than Ramsdale.

If we don’t go up we have to move Ramsdale on, it’s as simple as that. Have to see in the summer where his realistic destinations are

Larin's debut goal was fun recent example.

But we would think of it not as £7, but £20m for Ramsdale less £7m for Peretz, so we are signing him for a £13m profit.

EDIT: Just read that you said the same lol two posts above :)

I think no matter what division we are in that ramsdale is gone at some point in the summer, so even if the negotiations take some time I can't see why a decision on retaining peretz is blocked by that. It's a lot a for championship keeper but it's a statement of intent if we are hunting promotion next season and equally a first step in a prem ready squad (as I think he's good enough for that too) so for that value I think it's a bargain either way.

If we have the option exercise it at the best point in time for us and work out the logistics of bazunu and ramsdale (and i think mccarthy is out of contract in the summer too IIRC) in parallel

This has reported by Newcastle journalists. Nothing from the club to date but the journalists seem informed.

Don't fall in love with a loan player. Don't fall in love with a loan player. Don't fall in love with a loan player....

God, Peretz is good. Seriously good.

I'm not sure about Ramsdale. The word seems to be that Newcastle won't be buying him so there's a chance we keep him if we go up. I'm pretty sure that's the only possible way we don't try to sign Peretz permanently. Even if we do go up there's still an argument for selling Ramsdale for £20m, signing Peretz for £7m and using the extra transfer money and wages elsewhere.
