1-1 its just finished.

But we are now above Aston Villa. So, considering Wigan play Villa final day, even if Wigan beat Arsenal we cant finish below Villa and Wigan this season now. Wigan would be on 38 points if they beat Arsenal. So if they draw they would either go down or beat Villa and be on 41 points with Villa being in the bottom 3 (unless Sunderland lose on the final day).

As I and others have said elsewhere, we could technially lose by a right old sackful vs Stoke, and hence fall below Villa on GD even if they lose to Wigan.

But that will never happen. We're in the same boat as after the Plymouth away win. Our GD advantage over Huddersfield was never going to get overturned then, and our GD advantage over Villa win never get overturned now. We're safe.

We could lose by twelve goals and go down, if Wigan wins both of their games, beating Villa by one. That's only if Fulham don't also lose by eleven, though.

Thought we were going for a top 10 finish 3 weeks ago?

There's a massive single point separating us and 11th.

We lose by 12, but get saved by Fulham losing by even more. That would push the Championship and L1 finishes for endings that you could not ever make up.

Fingers crossed for a Wigan win on Tuesday now. I want some Wigan-Villa last day drama. And I wouldn't mind Sunderland or Villa going down.

Yeah, now that we're safe, I want to see Wigan pull in out of the fire yet again. I'd also settle for them drawing tomorrow and then thumping Villa on the final day, while Sunderland loses to Spurs...a result that would also consign Arsenal to Europa League.

How about 10th place then need to beat stoke by at least 2 and hope all the results go for us. At the least I'd like to earn some braging rights over my toon supporting friends.

Safe!

Would rather see Wigan go down than Villa. Villa's a relatively easy away game. Would rather see Sunderland go down than either of them though to be fair. Really starting to dislike Di Canio...

Only need to win by one and west ham to lose as they are on -10 we are -11. If we won and they lose we would be -10 them -11!!!

We will only go down if:

Wigan beat both Arsenal and Villa.

We lost 13-0 to Stoke.

Wigan beat Villa 1-0.

Or...

We lose 12-0.

Villa lose 4-3 to Wigan.

Us losing 12-0 and Villa losing 3-2 to Wigan would mean we'd be level on points with Villa, as well as being level on GD and level on GF. Then it would go to head-to-head results, I believe? 4-1, 1-0. Done.
