Regardless of why we have cases at the club, the efl have done a **** job on the procedure for what happens in case of a positive case.

Its a pity no one thought of punishing the clubs, when they voted to play no more games last season
2019-20 Season, you must not play any games
20-21 You must play games and if you don't, well we don't know what may happen
Think you may be a bit short sighted there mate. The EFL have a duty to clubs and players to have in place guidelines for exactly this kind of scenario given that tests are being done regularly. As for not punishing Sunderland did you miss the end of last season when clubs said that without fans they could not finish the season as they could not afford it. This was after the EFL had told them how the league points would be sorted so they knew where they would finish and then proceeded to let them vote lol there was only half a dozen games to play not counting play off games which some teams miraculously managed to be able to afford to play. Then the same teams that said they could not afford to play without fans for six or so games last year are already 12 or so games into this season with no fans we have had what I consider an illegal salary cap introduced that makes a mockery of the league and prevents teams with more available resources from using them BUT only league 1 and 2 as in the championship apparently you can have different rules. The EFL is not fit for purpose as Bury Fans or Charlton fans. The EFL should be investigating itself before anybody else it is a twisted and biased machine that asks teams to vote in their own self interest. Bearing in mind the things I have pointed out are only from the last few years. RANT OWA. KTF

The EFL should have postponed the game. My point is that in the result that they didn’t and passed it on to us, we should have done.

who mentioned vendetta? The bloke you re responding to didn't. Sunderland were clearly punished, along with other clubs, last season. The poster clearly identifies why as well.
As for the last sentence, why would we do something without not knowing the circumstances? Surely after 8 months the idiots will know what sanctions could be out there? Just like the end of last season and the immediate introduction of the salary cap, they are making it up as they go along. And until someone has the balls to challenge them (where has the PFA gone) they will continue to do so
I was in Blackpool for that "game" I still went for the weekend. I was in pubs with hundreds of others, I went to a non league game, and could go into restaurants, cafes, amusements etc. I couldn't get into Bloomfield Road because of those muppets
Oh and I do believe we had the possibility of going joint 2nd had that game been played
Aye same here, went to watch Flyde play Aldershot instead. Last match I was at, seems like only yesterday, but yesterday feels like an eternity ago.
We watched AFC Blackpool (home of the Mechanics) V Darwen ( I think). Got pissed in the clubhouse, sat in the stand with my drink but could also watch the game from the clubhouse if I wanted to
How do you know the club have done anything wrong? Should be clear rules from efl, you have a positive test which potentially could affect many more, call the game off.
If you read our statement it is very carefully worded, 'extensive dialogue' 'couldn't come to an agreement' etc. The EFL cant just postpone a game a few hours before without an investigation. And if there is an investigation there may well be sanctions if we are found to be in wrong. It was maybe our decision not to take that risk. If the players have been mixing socially we could have been docked points or whatever. Nobody really knows.
As far as I'm concerned we just need to get on with it and move on. This virus is destroying lives every single day but I dont think postponing games is the right thing to do. We cant keep running away from this. Play the game, live our lives.

So whilst he didn't use the word vendetta, if I'm short sighted for thinking Sunderland are going to be treated differently to others, that suggests people think there is a special case against Sunderland. Which is frankly silly.
Why would we do something? LJ himself is saying the game put the safety of his players at risk.
I completely agree the EFL shouldn't have put us in that position. But I'm a bit disappointed that we as a club have decided we should put our players at risk and prioritise that below the risk of being fined or points deducted.
If we didn't think the players were at risk then fair enough, and I think its great if LJ and KS thought nobody was at risk and we could still attack to win the game. But if we did think players health was at risk, we should have just postponed it and dealt with the consequences and hoped common sense would prevail.
Frankly also wouldn't surprise me if we didn't follow the protocols both from a COVID perspective and then informing the EFL perspective. We appointed a new club secretary in the summer from Eastleigh, and last week they tried to play a cup-tied player without noticing.
The whole thing is just another example of how shambolic the administration and decision making has been at our club for years.

We were at Blackpool on the Friday night, found a good pub called the Sun, got hammered. Saturday was merely a topping up exercise. Flyde have a decent stadium for non league, was a decent experience, but a million miles from watching us take on and take over Blackpool. Still had a canny weekend.
It wasn't Charlton that had the covid cases, it was Bristol Rovers and no numbers have been mentioned. We had one positive case with the rest having to isolate. Bristol face the same situation though, they've postponed the game and now will have an EFL investigation to see what happens.
