It was what it was, I’d rather an internal investigation and lessons learned than a public. The buggers have had a party haven’t they they are stupid like but this kind of thing is best kept internal
we are hanging in there right now on the coattails of those above who are now having slip ups. Hopefully LJ will be able to add in January and have a huge push up the league in the last third of the campaign ...there's always one club that does, lets hope its us this time.
my fear is we ain’t gonna have much option as with 7 people self isolating and awaiting test results, with some showing symptoms, this about to become a far bigger issue than a single game being off or on. chances are we are about to get investigated anyway as we will likely need to close training ground until Christmas as everyone has been training together and we already have 3 people showing symptoms
for the postponements of the next few games - which I fear will need to happen once more positive results come through today. fingers crossed no more positives come through and this can quickly be forgotten
Thought this was the takeover thread but still gonna say it. Can't believe fans have turned on McFadzean after one poor game, maybe even one poor moment which he will know himself. Right up until kick off the debate was how will Hume get back in the team? We are seriously fickle! Also Johnson says Gooch and one other were 3/4 weeks away from playing but put themselves forward to help out last minute when his line up kept changing and he kept getting calls to say more players were unable to play. I think in all the circumstances the players deserve credit and as Johnson said that ended up a good point
Tough as there are a range of different sanctions but with covid nothing is straight forward. Too many variables. That's why they give the club to be straight to and say they can not play the fixture with investigation after. Every other club has done this and not lost an investigation. We were very worried about losing, wanted to know the exact investigation method and likely punishment. Didn't get it in time so decided to play. We would have failed the investigation. So all in all, a point gained is better than -3. That said , internal investigation must be carried out and protocols changed
TBF it's the club's coach travel and freedoms of movement on the coach that they need to look at. That's what the club can control. What the players do in their own time is uncontrollable but that too needs looking at
That’s what I meant though, there aren’t variables, has the club followed guidelines, yes or no. Have the players followed guidelines, yes or no. I’m not disputing the players or the club may be at fault here, I would still say the club shouldn’t face sanctions if a player has nipped out to his mates house, but the EFL are still clueless as what that punishment may be. It’s incredibly unprofessional. They didn’t give us a chance to play out last season at the risk of punishment if we didn’t follow guidelines.
He basically blamed the efl, he said they offered no help other than if you cancel game you maybe sanctioned and investigated. It should of been clear from the efl cancel the game
He is doing ok after the season ticket fiasco and his appeal a couple of months ago for a bail out. However, if as suggested by Prehab this is down to travel arrangements, it is the club that is failing, he at the moment is the head of that club.
It should have at least been clear as to what those penalties may be had the investigation went tits up. However I’d love to know how the EFL could prove they didn’t social distance or wear masks on the coach. I mean if the club would say, “yes you are right, we didn’t follow guidelines”, it would show incredible incompetence....oh hang on.
On this Charlton had their game postponed last night because of 1 positive case?? One rule for one and a rule for Sunderland in my opinion.
It sounds like a traffic light system stops working so the police are there but instead of directing traffic they just tell people they might do them for failing to stop at lights, or maybe not but you'll have to decide for yourself and then wait to see if they punish you. Its very bizarre but also how people in management operate because that's how you prosper in those jobs.
Bristol Rovers provided evidence in plenty of time to explain why the game should be postponed. Ours was on the day, so I think there’s an element of bad luck with the timing. But the two events are different. The EFL are useless but they’re hardly just going to punish Sunderland for the sake of it - especially when they all love Jim Rodwell.
