I said a few weeks ago that I wanted Parky gone and that I wanted whoever came in to be talking in terms of a project.

Johnson wasn't on my list but he is saying the right things so I'm right behind him. I actually liked the way that he quietly dug out the strikers by saying that there was not enough movement in the box and nobody gambling on the near post - if they have any self respect at all they will know that was aimed at them and will be working their socks off in training to prove him wrong.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this team responds this month as they know that he will want to be strengthening in Jan and I do think that if he can get us playing passion and commitment for 90 minutes each game that we will have enough to make the play offs and possibly even second (I think Hull might be away and gone already).

We've fallen a hell of a long way in recent years and this last few days seems to me to be the first time that it has finally been acknowledged properly that what we were doing was only going to see us fall further and that the whole system needed changing and will now be changed.

Onwards and upwards!!!
Good post that

Just chuckling at the rampant indignation from the anti-takeover ITK's on here ...

.... or IKFA's as I call them.

"There won't be a takeover, Donald wants another crack at promotion."

Donald, "I want to sell the club."

"He's bluffing to placate the supporters."

Donald, "We're talking to preferred buyers."

"He might want to sell but no one will buy during a pandemic."

Donald agrees a deal to sell the club.

"It's only the Guardian, it won't happen."

The new people start assembling a new staff.

"It's Methven/Rodwell/Donald doing that."

The new staff dismiss that idea.

"It's not a takeover, there's a financial entity you idiots don't understand called 'share jiggling' which means nothing has changed."

Seriously, these people are absolutely desperate for the club to fail ...

... either that or they're sad little people pretending to be Sunderland.

Makes you glad you're not them.

They're a prime example of the 'little dog syndrome' yapping along.

Can I just say that @Simonside le bon is a top notch Sunderland fan, very bright, is in a highly professional role, short as **** :emoticon-0105-wink:, and someone you would want on your side in a battle. He isn’t a know nowt, rag tag WUM like they have over there. In my opinion he’s wrong, but he is frustrated as **** watching the club being decimated right in front of his very eyes. A club he has travelled the world to watch and to coin a phrase, there would be “no one happier than him to be wrong” and I know for a fact he would be man enough to admit it. Finally he looks more of a pet shop boy than a Duranny, but there isn’t an estate in Jarrow where he can fit in Neil Tennant as a username.

I was hopeful for Poyet, probably more so on the back of the style of football we tried to play when he was here previously. I'm yet to hear what went wrong and why the change of heart (message board rumours aside).

I'm coming around to Johnson and the new structure. It's what we've been crying out to have for years. The bigger picture will be a slow burner, I hope people realise that too.

I'm sure the rest of the appointments and takeover will all fall into place very shortly.

Onwards and upwards!

Given Sartori's and Louis-Dreyfus' links to Monaco and Marseille, why don't we get some of their under 21's in, in January to bolster the squad.

Or if we go closer to home, Johnson and Speakman will know Bristol City's and Birmingham's under 21's inside out.

We've also got a new head of recruitment to come in too, haven't we? We'll have options. And given our spending power on those under 21's wages verses other teams in our league, we should be in a better position than most in January.
That’s probably the only way get under 21s in

The interview I saw, which was probably the same one, I was impressed how he actually set out the context of the interview at the beginning. He said it's very difficult having to do these interviews straight afterwards as you have to try and balance it with the players, the fans and the owners. More or less saying, you can't just hang the players out to dry but also you have to get the message across, you can't fool the fans by saying it was great when they've just watched it and it wasn't and you've got to give hope to the owners that you've seen it and know you can put it right.
So that example of the strikers you give was exactly that imo, subtlety getting in what they weren't doing and need to do. I was really impressed with the context he gave and then went about it, so far I'm impressed by his words but as we all know, they count for nothing if he can't change it on the pitch. With the right backing though I'm cautiously optimistic.

It's probably going to get worse before it gets better imo. We just might have to be a little more patient as Johnson tries to get shot of all the ****e at the club and start to mould his own team which will be difficult in fact he might have to wait till the summer when most of them are out of contract. As I can't see any other club lining up to sign the likes of Graham wyke Grigg O'Brien Dobson power leadbitter McLaughlin Flanagan Maguire who are all ****e imo

We are in the 3rd tier of league1 and a mid table team, Johnson is a championship manager, I didn’t want him, but the only names I wanted wouldn’t of come to us, 99% of teams would be happy with him, no one I have seen has been proper buzzing to have him ,but will back him, his first game in he’s had the balls to change the system and bring Mcgeady back with out even taking a training session,
He’ll get us out the league and get us stable in the championship until are stock is higher and we can then bring in a bigger name manger,
He’s not going to be are manager in the prem, but if he is, it’s means he’s done a cracking job,
People are comparing his win % to Parkinson who’s managed all his life in the lower leagues apart from 1 or 2 season, Johnson is 39 years who’s managed most of it in the league above us
I like your optimism but I don’t agree that Johnson and Speakman are the people to take us forward. I am totally underwhelmed to be honest and that fact that Rodwell, Methven, Donald and Sartori are anywhere near our club is of concern to me.

Exactly this. All the players have been coached a certain way to do certain things. It’s not as simple as telling them to do something different. They will have to unlearn the old stuff whilst at the same time learn the new. Some players will pick it up quicker than others. I reckon O’Nein for one will be quick to learn whereas Grigg and Wyke may struggle.

Some of them haven't picked up the Parky method yet. One or two haven't been able to follow the Parky or Ross mantra
