If rodwell is picking the new manager and if it’s Cowley it means he will have

then yes it means the takeover won’t be happening or isn’t anywhere near completion how can people see that?

well if that’s the case let’s get Steve Evans in as manager, if true it’s a very very underwhelming appointment

an upgrade yes 100% - much of an upgrade no
We are in bloody League One man! When will people realise that even if we had the richest owners in the world, practically zero managers with a decent reputation would come to this league. It’s a league for two types of managers: has beens/journeymen; and up and coming managers. Big name and decent reputation managers will not manage in league one! How can you not understand this? Cowley, for this level, is a good appointment. Objectively, yes, he may be what could be described as an average manager. I actually think it’s fairer to say raw and with potential. But what are you expecting? Context is so important and the league we are in doesn’t allow us to fish for the best managers, regardless of money. Cowley would be a decent appointment in the circumstances. So to say Cowley = no takeover is silly.

This is getting ridiculous. You literally can’t jump to either of those conclusions and to do so is idiotic, I’m sorry.

This league is dog ****, and there is every chance that Cowley could get it promoted. In fact, it’s more than likely he could. Considering we were still in touching distance with Parkinson who was horrific.

And again, to conclude that the takeover isn’t happening because Cowley gets appointed is nonsensical. Explain that logic? New owners will have conducted interviews, looked at CV’s, and potentially decided Cowley, having been a success at the clubs he’s been at, and done a decent job in his first championship job, at a very young age, and potentially willing to work under a DoF, is the best candidate. It doesn’t in any way mean that no takeover is happening.
hes throwing a paddy man just ignore him like i used to with the bairns when they did

Pretty embarased by some of these reactions frankly.

Concord Rangers - three promotions up to their highest ever position
Braintree (one season) - took to highest ever league position
Lincoln - 2 promotions in 3 years to their highest ever league position
Huddersfield - took the team bottom of the table with 1 point in 7 games to safety. If the season only took place whilst he was manager they'd have finished 9th.

Forget anything else - he has a record of achieving or even over-achieving.

Is he perfect? No.

But people are acting like he's the worst choice in the world. Grow up.

Its what this appointment symbolises. Its a Rodwell appointment and shows no ambition at all

He has to be given the right tools to do the job..................all we have are the current Tools
True but the good managers get the best out of what they have and then try to improve. PP played his system no matter what and it did not work because our players were not good enough or too slow at the end of it all you have 2 choices either get players who can play your system or play a system which suits what you have PP did neither. However I do agree that there is a lot of work to be done both with the squad and with recruitment for us to improve

a huge name compared to Parkinson:emoticon-0102-bigsm thats a high bar youre setting I wonder how many hundreds of managers meet your very low standards

We're in league one. Parkinson's a league one manager through and through. Hence the comparison and why I'm saying Poyet is a big name for this level, which he is.

If we were Barcelona he'd be a small name. See what I'm getting at?

Why is it a Rodwell appointment just because Rodwell wanted him? If Sartori wants him? And KLD wants him?

Is this the statement manager we all wanted? No. Does this mean the takeover is a sham and Donald is manouvering his puppets? No.

It's a good, solid, sound appointment for where we are and what we want to do. Not as exciting and I was all aboard the Gus Bus. But this is not a sign that we are doomed forever.

He’s talking ****e man. Even if Rodwell had a part to play, people are acting like he has taken total control. So then those people should explain the initial Poyet pursual. Have Sartori and KDL seen Poyet said no so then ****ed off? No, of course not. They will have had as much say, probably more.

would it be completely outlandish to suggest that everyone we have approached(inc poyet) perhaps for one reason or another turned us down? And that Cowley is the best of those who said yes. Remember where we are and our somewhat unstable reputation

Good post mate. We have to remember we are League One.

We are a massive fish in a ****ty, pointless and unattractive tank. I think Cowley would get us out of the league and that’s the be all and end all.

There was a feature on BBC about them when they brought Lincoln back into league, be easily found on YouTube or whatever and it might inspire a few that it wouldn’t be a terrible pick.

Very true. Most outside of Sunderland are our club as a basket case. Most managers at champ or Orem level won’t touch us with a barge pole, regardless of who owns or runs the club.

some need a reality check methinks.
