I doubt it would matter who Rodwell wanted as he’s not the one putting the cash in so I’d like to think he has zero say. I was worried when journalists were saying it was being left to him to recruit the next man. Hopefully he’s next out the door, horrible little twat.

I had no idea why folk where taking the idea that Rodwell or Methven would be making the decisions for new staff seriously tbh. We've had important vacancies unfilled for a while now so I've always had the sneaky that some of them wouldn't get filled until we were taken over and it would be the new overlords making those decisions. I'm just glad it looks likely we're getting someone like Gus in, outstanding appointment at this level.

Its a national holiday here in the UAE so I played golf with some blokes all are Sunderland fans. For a full 18 holes and the bar afterwards the talk ( for the first times in years) was positive. Suddenly it feels good to be a Sunderland fan again.
