They are not included in the salary cap so its an evenue to explore. With the sheer volume of games in the upper leagues apparently going to be difficult to get loans or signings in January but I would be inclined to take risks on younger talent from abroad if possible.

Like under 21's from Marseille? If only a close relative owned a minority share to help that happen..... Oh wait a minute. :-)

Did I imagine it or are under 21s exempt? If that's the case no reason we couldn't have a busy window. There's also more than a few we could pay up to bugger off.
Don’t know the legal aspects of cancelling players contracts but with the influx of money from the investment of the new owners I can see where you are coming from . Their are several players that we could afford to lose as long as we have players lined up to replace them .

Is there not a couple of options at least within the rules-
1- Pay off players, severance payments don’t count
2- Promotion bonuses don’t count
3- bring in U21 players, again these don’t count
4- how close are we? I thought existing contracts over and above the 1700 weekly average, only counted as 1700 until the contract is renewed?
As far as I'm told, we're very close to the limit.

Don’t worry about that, it’s a lot further ahead, hopefully an official announcement with in the next week
Every morning I wake thinking 'Today's the Day'.... I cannot wait for the moment that this is all unveiled, again thank you @Smug in Boots, @Magnus, @Wheatsheaf & @Prehab26 for everything. You all seem like very decent people. Thanks.

Ah man, logged back in after 1435 yesterday on page 961 and up another 20 pages, could someone give update please to save me half an hour. Ta

NQD doesn't think its anywhere near happening, the ITKs are all wrong and have been from day one
Everyone's money is on Poyet being manager after a few hints here and there.
Magnus says its incredibly close and may be an announcement in the next week

I think 2 will be the best option.

We are stuck with the majority of these players this season but probably not next season. Get us promoted and you get a decent bonus and leave.

We can then keep the decent lads and add some real quality in the summer.

He's not got a squad place, so his wages don't count towards the salary cap figures. Also if he was playing as said above only the 1st £1,700.00 would count towards it.
Just did some reading and we can also go 5% above, with financial penalties rather than points etc.
So that could be 125k towards wages between Jan and end of the season. So on a 6 month contract that could be 5k a week, surely that could get 1or 2 useful additions in on free transfers

Paying off players is something that crossed my mind.

We have upto 16 players out of contract in the summer.

If it was possible I'd pay Power, Graham and McLaughlin off who will all be in the last 6 months of their contracts.

Also Dobson, O'Brien and Grigg who will have 18 months left on their deals.

6 places freed up without really weakening the first team. Bring in 3 players under the age limit and 3 players over and split the 6 wages over those 3.

Good idea, crux of the issue is the new owners are going to have to spend if they want to progress this year. Very minimum paying off Parky and staff.
