What you say makes absolute sense and would have been better than that abomination PP put out today.

Fully agree with this and posted as much in RTG. Gooch isn’t great at the moment but half the time he is in the wrong part of the pitch. O’Nien at centre half is the criminal one for me. At fullback he was getting into scoring positions, creating and scoring. Parkinson has completely nullified that threat by putting him there.

Parky reminds me of one of my old Sunday league gaffers who had an overly defensive mindset. He was constantly bringing his better players back down the pitch to make us harder to beat but stifled the **** out of us as an attacking force. Was crackers, especially at that level where you're just having a kick around for a laugh. I'd say it's crackers at league one level an all as the quality is canny ****e yet we have never looked like a team that plays firmly on the front foot and proper gets at sides. I think we have the players to do that but no confidence we have a manager for it.

Figaro also reported that Sartori contacted Dreyfus 6 months ago about this deal.

"Il aurait contacté Kyril Louis-Dreyfus il y a six mois pour lui exposer son projet de rachat et prendre la suite de Stewart Donald."

Interesting seeing calls for Keane, Poyet and Di Canio. As far as I'm concerned they're all failures as managers and Poyet aside are very rusty when it comes to club football.

We had some great times with all three but they aren't realistic options for me. If we're going to be filthy rich we should be looking at better. The past isn't something we should be looking to replicate.

I recall they used to be spot on with the mags when they were busy signing any French player running out of contract

I agree with what you're saying mate. however when I said for him to do all of the above, even if the players don't listen, at least it would look like he had a clue and gave a ****. Not in the same leauge actual and figurative, but Klopp isn't frightened to loose his rag on the touchline.

I have to admit I'm rather more pleased that the gossip has been about our new overlords going for a director of football rather than just a manager. We need someone well versed in the old footy stuff to implement an entire working infrastructure at our place with a lot of very important positions to be filled. It would be ****ing brilliant to have a coherent approach to this rather then the bollocks we've had for the last few years. I'll be honest and admit I couldn't care less if I knew anyhting about a new gaffer but as long as they played attacking footy and were happy and eager to develop the young uns, that will do for me.

Folk may scoff at this, but I've said more than once. He wouldn't come, but if the new owners have a plan, vision and means, at least pick the phone up to Eddie Howe.

Just said the same thing myself on the new manager thread. I don't think it's far fetched at all, imagine you're a young idealistic manager wouldn't you want to take a job like Sunderland on? The world is yours with wealthy owners and a massive fanbase.

It's a very rare opportunity for a young and savvy manager.

He started at Bournemouth penniless and dragged them up the leagues through sheer ability, at Sunderland he'd have the financial backing as well. Got to be the best choice for me and I do believe he'd fancy it when the takeover goes through.

Parkinson today looked like a dead man walking and the players looked even worse. I think he's lost the dressing room in a big way and they can't be arsed to play for him! Pp spent 90% of the game with his hand crossed shaking his head. Hopefully this young man has ambitions and want the best! Hopefully

I'm no Elon Musk but sadly Parky doesn't even appear to be a Laika on the subject. Even she would know O'Nien isn't a centre half.

sanderson has done nowt wrong so wtf was he doing on the bench while onien was hoyed in at the back again, get a defender to do a defenders job and if needed get another of the young lads onto the bench...i have praised and will praise onien all the way here, if the rest of the team had his attitude to the club we would not be worried, he does not just run around going through the motions, he recognised that hume was more or less isolated today so moved up the pitch to help him, somehow i do not think that was parky's doing.

i can understand, when needed, trying a player in a similar but deeper position (defensive midfield as center back) as there is not an amazing adjustment needed, if it works then you know you have a reliable back up option IF necessary...but to put players into positions where they basically lose any effectiveness is pointless, gooch and onien prime examples today, point proven when they both moved up the pitch, hume had a partner again and gooch had people he could pass to rather than trying to create it all himself.

as stated earlier, football is basically a simple game but the plain and simple fact is that if your heart is not in it you suddenly find those passes are not reaching their target, your touch has gone and you cannot get it back...the team need some kind of boost right now to drag them back into a fighting force and i do not see them getting it with parky.

Could be thinking of doing similar to the City Group and Redbull.

Teams on differenr continents, loan systems etc hence the need for a sportinf director rather than a director of football
