Bastille Day was the song but it was 2112, bought in 1980, that really cemented my undying admiration for them. I was genuinely shocked when I heard of Neil’s passing this year.

first saw them in 78, last seen 2004..the R30 tour, missed the final tour due to my depression then they started getting 'old man problems' like us all...real shame about the professor though.

It was heartbreaking watching Hume yesterday.

He must despair putting crosses into an area where people won't put their foot or head in.

The thing is every single player in our team knows exactly what Hume is going to do and rarely is there anyone attacking that area where he has whipped in some really decent crosses.

Hume also rarely looses the ball when he's wide left therefore more players could gamble and make that run, just as their lad did for their first goal.

Based on which league we are in this current team must be our worst ever. It's one thing struggling in the Premier League and Championship but when we struggle in League One it speaks for itself. I have followed the Lads since the mid 50's and seen some **** but this current lot are atrocious. There is only one person to blame, Stewart Donald who has turned us into a run of the mill Third Division team .

1983 - Signals tour
1987 - Hold Your Fire tour
2004 - R30 tour
2007 - Snakes and Arrows tour (only time I pulled a sickie from work).

The last two tours I went with a mate from work who’s currently doing a 25 stretch for murdering his missus. Anyway, I emigrated back end of 2007 and as the selfish bastards never toured Australia then that was the last time.

As for the Mecca on a Friday night.... I only started going after I left school, so 1982ish. Pints of Snakebite come to mind. As I finished my last two years of school in Durham, there was a metal night every Saturday at Newton Hall.

Pissed me off that nobody was following up as well, Lampard-style.

The number of times when the ball was half-cleared to the edge of the box. Rarely one of ours anywhere near.

I agree with you in part, atm Maguire and Hume are the only two players I consider to be half decent.

But if you are saying this is the worse team we have had, for me from early 60s, I completely concur!

This is how bad it’s got.
Two players who are so inconsistent but ‘could’ come up with something are the ones we pin our hopes on. In reality Maguire. Chips in with the odd goal and tries hard but isn’t great. Hume is lauded as the next big thing. His crossing is generally poor and he can’t defend for ****e. For a wingback, those two elements are pretty much essential.
I try to look for positives in the club and team performances and I always have done but the dirge we’re being served up now is pathetic. I hope they’d improve through decent coaching but I’d doubt it

there was one at the rowing club i seem to recall as well, in fact, they were everywhere around that time...greenbank at chester was another regular for me.

...and yes, the snakebites were most lethal, many a pub stopped selling them yet were happy to sell us 2 halves and an empty pint glass :D

We simply don’t have enough people in the box. It’s why I’d play O Nien central midfield and Gooch further forward.

Who the hell does he think he’s kidding with that bollocks man.
PP is ****ing delusional at best and hasn't a clue what we as fans demand from our team. The whole team last night were sleepwalking, boring same old tactics with players who couldn't run to catch a bus...I'm not spoiling my Saturday this week so I will take the dog out at 3pm ...**** PP and his backroom staff...
