I've not posted this evening as I've been picking up one of the owners from Toulouse Airport, its the first time he's been since we arrived in January. I've only ever spoken to him on the phone as he lives in the States. We had a job interview, in a London hotel, but only his business partner was there, both millionaires. Anyway we chatted for 2 hours, on the way home, about work related issues, staff problems, etc. Just as we came through our village he started telling me what was in the black tubular cannister in his luggage ... artwork!!! Turns out he's an art collector and it's an Andy Warhol original. So I casually ask him if he knows Ben Brown. "Of course, a very good friend of mine. He was invited here, on this visit, but they've already left France and are back in the UK." Now, I appreciate, people think I must exaggerate the daft shyte that goes on in my life but its just one crazy coincidence after another that constantly surprises me, let alone anyone else. So I now have a route back to Ben Brown, the art dealing millionaire friend of Glenn Fuhrman. I have an equally surreal story. I was in the jolly sailor tonight for a quick drink with some family and who was in the bar when I went through to get served my round ? mad ****ing Bob and Jim Rodwell and some other lad (didn’t know who he was tbh) I had a quick pint with them and a bit chat but didn’t want to outstay my welcome and I didn’t want to leave my company in the back room all night. it was nice to see my old friend Vic the pub landlord tonight which was the reason I went in,bonus seeing the queer fella and JR aswell.
I like to think there's been plenty positives mentioned for a bit optimism imo but can understand folk wanting something official announced asap. And agree all we can do is wait patiently and hope for a positive outcome, which I beieve we will get.
Doubt the season starting will make much difference tbh. Too late to vastly change recruitment, and plenty time until the next window. If both sides are trying to ensure they get the best deal, or if Covid is an issue and the buyer wants to wait and see how it goes in light of recent increases in cases etc, I can see it rumbling on for a considerable while
I think anyone on here having the foggiest about timescales would be a long shot tbh, probably a million to one chance. But according to Terry Pratchet they come in 9 times out of 10, so you never know.
