I’m not questioning @Smug in Boots sources at all, but I’m struggling to see the justification or need for another senior appointment.

If KLD is going to be as hands on as it looks like he is, and if Rodwell and Davison are in place to look after the non-footballing side and Speakman has full autonomy over the footballing side, where does any new appointment fit?

The only positions I can tell we need to fill (from a completely outside perspective of course) is Head of Academy and Head of Recruitment - both of whom I’d expect to report into Speakman rather than being “heavy hitting” appointments.

Another “big” appointment above Speakman and Rodwell would just indicate to me that KLD isn’t going to be as hands on as it looks, which I’d now be quite surprised about as he appears to be wanting to be all over it, which is awesome.

The only remaining factor could be somebody coming in with Rodwell leaving after a transition period. So that there’s a clear break from Madrox. I have no major issue with Rodwell, indeed I think he’s done a decent job in a hard period, but this transition away from Madrox would probably be for the best - so I can see this happening.

The current appointments, like Davison, are sound but a bit 'faceless'.

FPP wanted an 'ambassador' figure for the club as they'd be remote. They also wanted as many local people here as possible. I can see KLD having a base here but not really living in the NE. If that's the case he'll want a presence here that he can rely on.

Yep.

KLD wants to have people here who he can trust. Not the same faces who have watched and contributed to a decline in standards.

His way or the high way now. This adds to that. No hiding.
Will Dave Jones still be involved mate

really can’t believe a world Donald says but in the club statement when he referred to meeting KLD and his family I genuinely believe that to be correct. As you say it makes sense to involve family and people he trusts. Will have advisors by his side and I am sure his mam will always have his back.

Won’t post the whole piece like last time, but the below bit is the most interesting - other than the bits posted above about KLD having a base already in the north east and them expecting the EFL approval would have been Friday (so hopefully today):

He will be hands-on. In regular contact with Johnson and Speakman, Louis-Dreyfus will be involved in the appointments of a new academy manager and head of recruitment. Those are expected to come inside the next month. A heavy emphasis will also be placed upon data and analytics as plans are drawn up for what is hoped to be a transformative summer transfer window. Eighteen of the current squad are not currently under contract for 2021-22.

The Athletic has also learned that Louis-Dreyfus’ twin, Maurice, will have a role to play at Sunderland. He already has a base in the UK and could take on a director’s role at the Stadium of Light, supporting his brother.

What will discomfort fans is that the three existing shareholders, Stewart Donald, Juan Sartori and Charlie Methven, will each retain a minority stake in the club they acquired from Ellis Short in 2018, though the source added: “Fans want to know who calls the shots, totally fair enough, and that’s going to be Louis-Dreyfus. Everything else is background noise.”

Had no idea his twin already lived in the UK. That, combined with KLD’s period of living in Leeds, is a real good sign that they get England and are happy to live here rather than be on conference calls from a ski resort or yacht club.

I’m loving this. Need to get promotion this season or next for the real fun to start tho I feel.

I’m still sticking with my early afternoon today prediction.

The fact it was expected Friday makes so much sense with the way everything has been going. Hopefully any delay is purely administrative / workload related and so permission follows this morning and an announcement can be made.

Yeah, hopefully the EFL had everything the needed Friday just didn't get around to officially signing off.

One more point is that Maurice has barely got a mention (other than the fact he’s his brother), and is only finally leaking as being probably involved today.

That’s quite exciting in terms of potentially others coming out of the woodwork. Clearly a tight ship is being kept.
