I can’t see the EFL awarding us the grant whilst sinultaneously discussing a takeover with a billionaire with us.

In order to get the grant you have to PROVE you will likely go bust without it. Which is going to be a difficult spin right now.

So frankly here’s hoping this is all a red herring.

Not really. Clubs can't plead poverty and administration then go out and spend 500k in January.

We should definitely not take the extra and get busy in January if you ask me but it not my money and I'm not the ones losing a million a month.

I completely agree with you, apart from a bit of smoke and mirrors from Rodwell regarding the recent appointments, his comments confirm most of what you @Smug in Boots @Magnus and @Wheatsheaf (apologies if I have missed anyone) have been saying. Reading between the lines, Rodwell is saying that the deal is nigh on done and we just need to be patient.

It was in reference to the board being in total control of appointment etc

I was puzzled why would anyone want to invest big money just for 40% of the club.
Makes sense for Dreyfus to want more, but I can't see how it got this far without this problem being sorted?
It doesn' look good, I'm afraid now that Donald would take an EFL loan and getting his hopes up with the latest result he could f.... up this takeover too.
Never that simple at Sunderland isn't it?
I think the truth is that Donald wanted to hold on to shares and cash in Later for more profit or sell his remaining shares for a higher price. But as he has possibly realised that KLD 8s going to invest heavily and he will be required to invest similar for his percentage share he is having a rethink and is open to offers for his remaining shareholding as he has realised he will not be getting a free ride. Only a guess but would seem plausible

Looks like Chris is seeing the positives in this news today

yes - a lot of what’s “happened” today is exactly what people have been asking for - KLD to push for more of the club

I don’t know anything about the rules governing takeovers but, if the efl is in the process of approving a person as being a fit and proper person to take over a club with a majority shareholding, does it matter what that majority is? In other words if the applicant has agreed to own 40%, and during the test negotiates to increase that amount, why would it delay the decision on whether or not he is a fit and proper person? Pardon my ignorance.

To be fair mate there are no positives. It sounds very much in the balance . I think it’s going to be a case of cross your fingers and hope for the best. No disrespect to any of the ITK’s on here who all come across as good people and they no doubt share what they are told from their contacts but they said the takeover was done with the Americans - it wasn’t, they said poyet was done- it wasn’t and we’ve heard for about a month now this takeover is done but clearly it isn’t. Things can obviously change at the very last minute as seems to have happened with the Americans and poyet and this sounds like it could be similar. Some people like to think Donald, methven etc aren’t a problem no longer but they are.

I worked in Staines for a little while and one of my locals was a Wychwood pub.. lovely beers..

Nowt like a cold Dry Neck in the summer.
Worked near Fulham in the early to mid 90s and they had one at the bottom of North End Road, my ex worked even closer to it.

Hobgoblin used to knack me!

Chris always seems to me to be one of the most negative people going when it comes to this takeover so for him to have a positive spin on this news is a welcome surprise and for once mirror what lots of people have said on here
