Is it just me or does it seem frustrating we missed out on some pretty good players during Rafa's tenure because we lacked 2 odd millions yet now indications are we may splash millions on Players like Downing.

If you mean frustrating that we're criticised for paying "over the odds" now then yes. But we haven't splashed out on Downing yet. I have no idea who "players like Downing" refers to.
This summer is looking like a spending wave, possibly because there was so little last summer. So prices are going to be higher all round anyway.
In other news, Reina has spoken of David De Gea to Utd and said, "I very much welcome this news because David is a great keeper." Translation: "I very much welcome this news because David is not as good as me or Edwin so Utd have been weakened."
Also, it seems we're in for Diego. He'd better pull his socks up if he does come to us.

I knew nothing about him or his reputation 'til people on here filled me in. Presumably ( if we are really interested and it's not just the papers ) Kenny is aware of his bad boy image and thinks he can sort him out.
Perhaps he'll just nut him.
He bought Suarez and Carroll and they weren't having the bad time Diego seems to be having at Wolfsburg. The club is a happy place these days so I doubt we'll see any sulks for a good while.
I reckon Kenny can handle players that have not been saints previously.He can as they say ''Tame the beast''.Suarez and Carroll weren't exactly angels when they signed.Suarez was over exuberant and Big Andy was misunderstood,Kenny has worked on both and got the best out of the two of them,In Andy Carrolls case the best is yet to come.
It'd be exciting if we did sign Diego and Mata, I'd reckon them two signings will really worry the likes of United and Chelsea.

Diego would be a quality addition to any team and to all those who said they wouldn't want him they have need to stop judging him as we don't really know the full story about the Wolfsburg fall-out.

In other news, spanish newspaper SuperDeporte claims Mata isn't desperate to leave the club and he could well stay at Valencia beyond this summer.
Teams and players need to stop pretending they are loyal and will stay at their club when a move to another team is imminent. I'm not saying the above is entirely true, but with the news that five European clubs have met Neymar's release clause of £40.1million and Santos claiming they could keep hold of the Brazillian its kind of silly really.
We don't know how Downing will slot in with the players we have and the way we'll play, either.
