Exactly. We should have been patient with Ross imo though. Maybe Phillips would get a bit more leeway because of who is.
There is only Sam who we want now, or Warnock, I would like Jose or Pep but I doubt that will happen !. the players got him sacked. Warnock will give them hell if they play like that.
Monty - please can you stay off this post. Its actually an intelligent and thoughtful debate -PLEASE FFS?
Kenny Jackett!!! To be a bit more serious, the current Southampton manager. Not doing too well at the moment but there is that saying, "courses for horses." And I believe both SFC and Sunderland will be in the same división next season.
Not a bad shout. Id love to know peoples opinions on either "new blood" or "dinosaur". Both have distinct advantages and risks though.
Been in a meeting and came out to this. I was surprisingly shocked, even though I agree it’s the only decision. Wish him all the best. Barnsley just let go an attack minded, forward thinking gaffer....
I'd prefer someone who would potentially (unlikely I know) stay for a longer period of time and build the club around them, like Wenger or Howe or Ferguson. So, ideally, someone a bit younger. Experience would also useful which is why I like the idea of Stendel. Not adverse to an older manager though. I'm just not sure that a lot of the likes of Allardyce would be able to do it without money to spend. They are, these days, more like quick fixers. Kenny Jackett isn't a bad shout though.
To my first tongue in the cheek suggestion. In reality Jackett is a poor man´s Big Sam. The now ex-Barnsley boss and Hughton are popular choices. Good luck to whoever is appointed.
My wishlist: The Cowley brothers (not going to happen) Mike Tullberg (not going to happen) Daniel Stendel (could happen)
If it is the Yanks who have pressurised Donald into sacking Ross, I can't see them wanting to replace him with someone with no previous managerial experience.
Whoever takes it needs a ****ing massive set of low swinging bollocks on them because we are a right bunch of ****s to keep on-side. If someone steps up and does the business though they will be idolised for eternity, I’d wager there’s a whole bunch of folk firing CV’s over right now. This is a huge club, and an even bigger job. It’s a potential career landmark for someone to take the club on and start turning the tide. Whoever takes it will certainly have my respect cos **** me it’s a tough gig.
Not last year and he needs to improve to do it this year although TBH I don't know anything about him, would rather have kept Ross, have no idea who I'd like and will get behind whoever it is(unless it's Pulis of course)
That is true but Sunderland are a PL club so should try and get someone with a good footballing philosophy, can connect with the fans, and motivate the players. Unfortunately, that person is tied up with Liverpool. But there must be others out there that can do the same, it is just finding that person. But if Stendel measures up on those three counts then he will be a good appointment.
