It's definitely getting tight. Pompey blew their chance to close the gap tonight and I think them and Ipswich have left themselves too much to do.

That just leaves 3 from 6 for the play off places, with MK Dons/Wigan looking very likely to claim one of them. That just leaves Oxford, Plymouth, Wycombe, Sheff Wed and ourselves fighting for 3 spots.

Just done a predictor type thing which came out as follows:

Rotherham and Wigan promoted.
---------------------------------------
3rd MK Dons - 91 points
4th Sheff Wed - 86 points
5th Oxford - 83 points
6th Sunderland - 82 points
--------------------------------------
7th Wycombe - 79 points
8th Plymouth - 79 points

I had us losing to Rotherham and Oxford, drawing at Plymouth and winning the other 5. 15/16 points should be sufficient, but I'd like more to make sure.

I think it will be the current top 6 with us moving up to 4th

A useful analysis..

I've tried working out final results myself.. but like the list of rival fixtures that somebody has painstakingly worked out on RTG, their are endless permutations.

I reckon Rotherham and Wigan are out of the play offs (probably)..

So we just have to keep winning and our rivals, especially those with games in hand, have to lose.

ATM, getting in the play offs is not in our own hands but :emoticon-0130-devilsoon could be.

If we could win all of our remaining games :emoticon-0107-sweat we should make it.

Just had a glance at the Championship table. The smoggies are in a similar position to us, striving to make the play offs and needing rivals who have played fewer games to lose.
They’ve also got an FA Cup quarter final to look forward to… I’d love to be in their position :emoticon-0143-smirk

Ipswich 1 - 0 Plymouth

Strange at it seems, we could end up with a game in hand on Plymouth and a match against them to come ...

... they have some difficult games and it's not so long since they lost five or six on the bounce.

Jus looked and they're away to Wycombe and Wigan, home to Oxford and Sunderland.

When it’s out of our hands it’s a gut wrenching feeling mind. We can’t afford anymore slip ups, got a feeling goal difference could be crucial as well. I’ve had to stop looking at the fixtures I keep depressing myself one day then convincing myself we will piss the play offs the next. Our lass keeps catching me studying them on my phone, apparently I’ve got thousands of pictures of the kids and grandbairn on it but only look at our fixtures. Hate it when she’s right

And MK Dons at home. Can't see the them getting much more than 8 more points. Important that we don't lose to Plymouth or Oxford.

We have Oxford to play who are only 2 ahead. We beat them we’re above them so it technically is in our hands. Just!

Win all our games we’re guaranteed play offs

Wigan are on a training camp in Dubai now over the international break. I remember when we used to do things like that with our previous owner.
It must be good for team bonding aswell

Plymouth v Oxford is the same day we're at home to Gillingham. Providing we win I'd say that's a win win win situation.

Plymouth win and we're above Oxford.

A draw and we're level with Oxford going into our match with them.

Oxford win and we're four points behind Plymouth, game in hand and a game against them coming up.

Both Oxford and Plymouth have more difficult run ins imo.

Plymouth home to Oxford, Sunderland and MK, away to Burton, Wycombe and Wigan.

Oxford home to Sunderland, MK and Doncaster, away to Plymouth, Morecambe, Rotherham and Fleetwood.
