as i remember that famous 10th finish (ahem) we could have ended just above the relegation spots but all results went our way and we somehow jumped higher than our season deserved so on that basis your memory is fine or mine is also shot, either could be true right now. we can sit and pick apart each game and those of our 'rivals' but as we have seen in this league anyone can beat anyone else and while it can be fun to try to guess the end result i have a feeling, going off performances, that we are starting to get a bit momentum...general play has been improved and our failing at the minute is not scoring, with players to return who are capable of taking the lead and scoring therefore taking some pressure off stewart i think we will be putting that side of things right at just the right time.
Just found a link. "Plymouth's 19-goal top scorer Ryan Hardie will have a scan on a thigh strain on Monday after he was injured in the 1-0 defeat away to Ipswich. Defender James Bolton also rolled an ankle during the first period at Portman Road and had to be taken off." From memory Hardie has twice the goals of their next scorer and has probably played every game this season. If Stewart, who has similar stats, was injured I'm sure a few people would be saying we're screwed. As it is we have Broadhead coming back who, imo. is a better striker than Stewart. Hopefully Hardie is out for the season and we play them at Wembley. https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football/plymouth-argyle-suffer-james-bolton-6864710
"AFC Wimbledon head coach Mark Robinson has left with the League One club winless since early December." Sheff Wed away on Saturday, let's hope they get a 'bounce' from somewhere They're one point adrift in fourth place so need a result ... ... get Warnock in ffs!
I hope they get a brilliant coach in, who keeps them up with a 100% record. They've got MK Dons, Sheff Wed and Wycombe to play yet.
Absolutely mate look at the current form table. Portsmouth were top and we were second bottom A few weeks ago…..where’s Rotherham?
Interesting, only three teams haven't lost in the last six. Defeats aren't critical but if it's followed by another, at this stage, panic can set in ... ... Neil has done the right thing in calming it all down but I think he'll go for it now.
Personally I think any result is good providing we beat Gillingham. A loss for Oxford means we'd be a point above them when we play them. A loss for Plymouth means we'd be four behind, with a game in hand, and them to play. A draw means they've both dropped two points.
I'd love be to see it , and I've already got a hotel booked for that weekend ( prov), but I just don't think we're good enough to get to, and through, the playoffs. I'm pleased with the work AN has done since he arrived, but we're just too weak in certain positions, and we desperately lack a leader on the field, somebody who could drag us through games and keep everyone working for 90+ minutes. Let's see on Saturday how we turn out after the little break, if we don't absolutely stamp ourselves on the game I'd guess the players will maybe have resigned themselves to not making top 6. I hope I'm wrong.
I agree with you. Would love to be wrong, it’s been a strange season full of ups & downs but I just can’t see this group of players managing promotion via the play-offs… Let’s see how we do Saturday.
Oxford are at Plymouth on Saturday so we could go a point above them before we have to play them. Everything's possible, I don't see any reason to just give up. A good win, against Gillingham, could change everything.
The best team doesn't always go up in the play-offs ... ... Charlton and Wycombe didn't exactly cover themselves in glory. These quotes are from the Plymouth forum after their loss to Ipswich ... As I said we were lucky not to lose by more....when you only have three shots at goal and none are on target. fear this season is dying today. Ryan Hardie has gone done with what looks like a serious injury, possibly a hamstring. Other teams losing players while we're getting our best ones back ... ... usually the other way round for us. Injured Sunderland duo Alex Pritchard and Nathan Broadhead “have recovered quicker than anticipated” and could be available for Saturday’s game against Gillingham, according to Alex Neil.
4 hours ago "Plymouth Argyle could be without top scorer Ryan Hardie for much of their run-in with a thigh strain. Hardie, 25, who has scored 19 goals in 43 games, could miss up to three weeks."
