It's panic stations now,new TV deal etc I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there's one more sacking before the season is out. I've been telling people for weeks that Stoke could go down but it's fallen on deaf ears. If they lose to Villa it's looking bleak for them. This may also be the year where 40 points isn't enough to stay up. In 02/03, West Ham went down with a record 42 points, after 30 games they had 27 points. Villa and Wigan both have 30 points after 30 games. Can anyone see Sunderland getting 3 wins or Stoke getting 2? I can't.
Sunderland have the players with enough quality to be a Premiership side. Somebody needs to get them organised & playing with belief. It's in their hands. It'll be close, but for me, Reading, QPR, Villa.
Disagree, take out Sessegnon and Adam Johnson (who've both been poor) and with Fletcher out injured the rest of the outfield players are Championship standard. As long as Weimann and Benteke stay fit Villa will have enough to get out. Sunderland away to Spurs on the last day, won't be comfortable for them by any means. I'd rather be in Villa's position and have the winnable games left.
I think that's Villa's problem, they're too reliant on those two - whose minds may well be somewhere else already. The rest of their side is inexperienced, and relatively poor. What they do have going for hem, IMO, is a half way decent manager.
I agree but the difference is Benteke and Weimann are in form and have been for most of the season whereas Adam Johnson and Sessegnon have been poor all season with the latter seeming completely disinterested.
Yes, they were both particularly poor yesterday. Johnson, especially, looks like a headless chicken at the moment. However, I've fancied Villa for the drop for some time now. Even if they just survive this time, Benteke and Weimann will surely be on their way elsewhere.
Villa Stoke Sunderland Wigan It's only a matter of time before those clubs are relegated. Ticking time bombs
Does anyone actually understand this "new tv deal", is it about BT getting right to games or something about being able to watch live 3pm games.
No 3pm games but the every few years a massive deal comes through as the broadcasters begin to make renewals or bid for the fixtures. BT have won the bid outbidding everybody else and the money coming in is huge, clubs that are in the PL next season will have massive financial advantages over everybody else, especially as parachute placements are being cut I.e The financial gap between the PL clubs and the Football League will increase from nex season onwards.
Yeah, I noticed that. Should've gone in by now, definitely. I think he'll make his next one a proper yellow, if you know what I mean.
Hotspur Way, hopefully. Although reports today suggest that his agent has said he's not looking to move on this summer.
I think he'd be pretty spot on for us. I also think that he's a very Levy-style signing, too. Doesn't look or play like a 22-year-old. Might be worth keeping an eye on his old team Genk. They seem to have produced some very good players over the last few years.
Liverpool get an early equaliser, after Villa's dodgy defence goes missing, again. Gerrard in the book.
Gerrard puts Liverpool in the lead from the spot. Baker gives away a very stupid penalty, sliding in on Suarez and getting nowhere near the ball. Villa appear to be collapsing.
Yes. BT won the contract that ESPN had. In fact BT have bought ESPN UK and Ireland since winning the contract, so no games on ESPN and no ESPN. Working for BT has its uses!
He's better than what we currently have, IMO. He's the type of striker were desperate for. However, he's still young and has a lot to learn, despite being a very good talent. We'd still need that other "top" striker in addition. But knowing our luck, levy would stop there, as its the cheap option.
