City take the lead against the Geordies. Meh.
And Silva kills them off. Still meh.

It'll get worse if Everton win as well!

I keep forgetting how close they still are. It'd be a massive result for them if they could win today. Put some real pressure on their neighbours, for a start.

Man Utd 25 wins out of 30.

Say what you want about Feegie, the guy is a truly great manager who reinvents teams.

    Fergie's not bad either!

    Excellent goal by Mirallas:

If we make the Champions League and Moyes leaves Everton, I wonder if we could go in for some of their players? Might be worth a punt.

They still have 4 tough away games in you guys, Pool, Arsenal and Chelsea all to play, they have a decent record at Chelsea but are dire in the other 3 so it will be 2 out of 3 imo for the top 4.

I was listening to the Utd game on the radio so obviously haven't seen it, but I understand RVP was booked for a high tackle on Rose. Any chance that was more than a yellow? I'm not drawing any conclusions, just want to know.

It was on Gardner, who made a meal of it, as the contact was minimal if there was any.
Correct decision from the ref, as van Persie's foot was high and his studs were showing, but there was no malice in it and it was never a red.

Rose had a relatively quiet game. Dealt with Valencia very comfortably and was always available, but didn't contribute anything meaningful on the attack.

It was never a red card. It was not dissimilar to the Zigic booking in the Birmingham game yesterday, where a player genuinely challenges for a low bouncing ball and is then caught unawares when his opponent stoops to try and head it.

Martin O'Neill's been sacked. Probably deserved it, to be honest.
Interesting to see who they'll get to replace him.

He should never have taken the job in the first place, although I understand why he did as he grew up as a Sunderland fan. But he never seemed to really show the same enthusiasm for the job as he had done at other clubs and I always feel he is more suited to progressing an up and coming championship club than attempting to resurrect a so called "sleeping giant" such as Villa or Sunderland.

Just had a peek on Oddschecker and they have Di Canio down as favourite for the job, followed by Di Matteo.

Why sack your manager with 7 games left? What can a new man suddenly do that MO'N couldn't?

Get a few quid on Sunderland for the drop. Ditto Reading. QPR have too much to do, I think, especially with Wigan doing their Houdini act again, but I wouldn't bet on it. Stoke are in freefall, but can they really go down when they hardly ever lose or concede at home?

Reading are gone, basically. Nobody there that I think is worth saving from the drop, either.
QPR need a win tomorrow or they're in deep ****. Even a draw leaves them well adrift. Not sure I'd want any of their players, either. Samba maybe, but his wages are silly.
Big game tomorrow for Villa and Sunderland's managerial appointment could be key. Make a mistake there and I think they'll be the third team to go down.

I mentioned their horrible run in and poor form a while ago, but the Mackems were shocking today.

Not worried about Everton, they'll finish nowhere near us.

They'll fold at Anfield as per and Arsenal/Spurs away will be very difficult games for them. Everton win helped us as it means they go into the game against you on a high.

We expected Arsenal to win,but some including myself held out hope Swansea could take something off you.

We need a favour of WBA and Everton next week though, no doubt about it.
