better yet leave them both to small clubs where they belong and a few goal here and there don't matter.
I dunno, the fact Balo has been sitting on the bench most of the season is yet another indicator it was not a Brod choice. He failed to get his targets and the committe prob said here have balo cos you need someone and 16 mil is not a massive risk
usually a manager would keep using his signing to jusify signing him in the first place, this has not happened with Balo
We tried to sign Costa and Sanchez but couldn't.
So the system had to change.
The reality you can't or don't want to admit is given those circumstances LFC is a big enough club that it can easily afford to buy Lambert for next to nothing and Balotelli on an admitted gamble. This is not like Everton spunking a record fee on a donkey who has put you bottom half of the table.
We risked about £10m (possible loss on Balotelli). You risked everything.
I don't think it is that simple even if there is some truth in what you said. We needed some cover regardless.
I think it is fair to say had Brod chosen him he would have been trying like **** to justify it, especially after the disaster Lovren and Markovic turned out to be, we resorted to a 20 year old who is not a striker instead.
Also Balo has never looked as crap as he does this season. Awful awful awful
Had we played him 28 full games he may have got 8 goals though![]()
I feel strongly that tobes is right here.
sorry but mr rodgers is on the COMMITTEE. he gets his veto. This is not rafa bleating on about having keane forced on him (then finally admitting that was bollox btw)
no way this is rodgers being right in the heart of the decision making that brings this clown to my club. I've said all year its a sackable offense. Rodgers said after milan friendly in the states it was utterly untrue yet it occurred.
CLEARLY someone got wind in the press of such a move somewhere then rodgers denied it and somehow it still happened. We certainly don't have the full truth of it but somewhere some how balotelli's name was floated about this committee and rather then being angrily scribbled out by anyone with half a brain they all went along and wrote a cheque for 16million plus negotiated wages with the clown
Sorry but it is the harsh truth. that guy has been and is a total waster. we have to stop blindly defending rodger sOR the committee and just say it was stupid what are we going to do to fix this and see it never happens.

The Brod vs Committee argument is massively flawed by Brod's own admission, Ayre claiming the same thing pretty kills it.
There is a committee but Brod is on it and he gets the final say on any signing. In other words, both parties need to agree before a player is signed but only one man as the power to prevent it happening on his own.
Therefore, there is no argument, Brod said yes to every single player we signed.
While that is true, at the end of the window with no replacement and balo available, what do you do? Go with no one?
He scored 28 goals last season, yes a lot fo frees and some penos but I don;t think anyone was guessing he was the answer, he was probably the only option left at that time and even the biggest pessimist thought he would be better than he was
You are forgetting also that when asked about Balo, Rodgers literally laughed and said no way. Categorically denied balo was being signed.
Strange that if he already signed off on it.

I am the biggest critic of his summer dealings

All true but Brod must have said yes because we signed him.
Not just last summer, nearly every transfer since he joined. Coutinho is the standout signing. Studge is the other. Who else? Migs and Sakho about complete the package lol
(Can't judge Ilori or Origi yet)
Except Brod says a million things and contradicts himself all the time to suit whatever he thinks the press wants to hear. Last thing he wants to do is say he's desperate for Balotelli to drive up his price (devils advocate, this is conjecture like your own).
Either way it's a big mess to have spunked 16m on mad Mario and if that was Roy Hodgson you'd probably be spitting feathers.
As with no replacement, again thats all conjecture but there are other players who fit the bill better. Lacazette, Valencia, Sahko, hell even your Origi is more appropriate for the type of football Rodgers wants to play.

They are not the only Chelsea disasters, Mutu?yes he's made bad calls but we're talking balo. Lovren was a mistake of epic proportions, there was no justification in signing him other than one good season. Markovic proves that whislt you can do well in the Portuguese league, that don't mean **** compared to the PL, as City about tehir 30 mangalla or whatever his name si, 30 worth of ****.
Balo was not a target, he was a last minute disaster. If Brod had more time you'd not be seeing Balo in a reds shirt imo
) he had a good twelve months to sort something! Not really- it's an opinion.I feel strongly that tobes is right here.

Unless Brod had his head up his own arse (yep, we all know that much is true) he had a good twelve months to sort something!

He was pretty much an LFC player till that point, that was in the summer wasn't it?
Not really- it's an opinion.
You might be right, I'm not disagreeing with you- but stating something is a hard fact when you can't know that it is doesn't offer much room for debate.
It's possible that the first mention of Balotelli was pure media speculation and that Rodgers was telling the truth when he dismissed the possibility at the time- only to find himself running out of options and finally talking himself into it.
