Unless Brod had his head up his own arse (yep, we all know that much is true <laugh> ) he had a good twelve months to sort something!
Is that true, though?
I think he honestly believed Suarez would stay, and if it wasn't for his latest snack the club would have tried a lot harder to keep him.

Bollocks. People who have their head up their arses don't end up managing top PL sides, We may not his style but that is another matter. His head seemed fairly not up his arse last season I reckon you thought ? If I didn't know better I might call you plastic <whistle>

Barca only made an offer for Suarez after he got banned for biting <whistle> He was pretty much an LFC player till that point, that was in the summer wasn't it?

I think you need a new calendar you clown <laugh>

Unless you took what I said in the wrong way of course. Head up his arse = he loves himself and believes everyone else should love him too.

I never said he was clueless, the interpretation you seen to have taken from my comment.

However, if he didn't realise Suarez was going to leave then your interpretation would be spot on tbf :)

Normally I would think no, but we got CL and just missed out on the PL, his reaction at Palace after we drew was an indication that he wanted to succeed at Liverpool. Barca calling would be difficult to repulse but it was not a given, especially after he just signed a new deal and what happened the season before. He seemed extremely happy with us that season.

Unless of course he bit the italian to make sure Liverpool would take the barca offer he was already aware of via his agent<whistle>

Pretty much what I was saying. I think everyone bar Brod himself thought Suarez would go if one of the Spanish giants came knocking. If Brod didn't consider that a possibility then he had his head up his arse.

We should have plans in place for every players potential departure, never mind one that's already tried to force a move to a rival after going behind our backs to see a release clause activited lol

Or the dawning of reality that his time at Liverpool was coming to an end without experiencing success.

The decision rested with FSG not Brod or Suarez or Barca.

You are asking a manager to plan for not having his striker a year from then, if you can't see how silly that sounds then.. because we should always be looking for good players Suarez or no Suarez. <doh>

It can be irritating when our own supporters start jumping on bandwagons, there has been a lot of that this season.
I really don't get all the constant bashing of our own, tbh.
I'm not talking about an awareness of limitations and a realistic appraisal of the club, I'm talking about an automatic assumption of the worst case scenario and the subsequent finger-pointing.

Can agree, the sun shined out of Rodgers arse last season and the same people who were rimming him have turned on him this season. Some of the stuff I've read has been ridiculous. especially the [HASHTAG]#luckedout[/HASHTAG] stuff

too many too quick to head for the lifeboats imo

EDIT: the depression after the Arsenal game was especially laughable, no one likes getting beat 4 1 but did last reason really ruin people that much, imagine what 13 titles in 20 years would do to them<laugh>

Suarez admits he thought had ruined his career and destroyed his chances of moving to Barcelona after the incident with Chiellini.

"I thought that I had ruined my career," Suarez told TV3. "At first, I wanted nothing to do with anyone. I shut me and my family away from the world, but upon reflection, I asked for forgiveness and I felt liberated.

"By then, the initial contacts with Barcelona had begun
and when Pere [Guardiola, his agent] called me to tell me that it was a done deal, I started crying, because of the situation I was going through and for the support Barcelona was offering me. I felt so happy with the commitment the club showed with me.

"I was afraid Barcelona were going to back off, due to the repercussions surrounding the incident; I was conscious of the fact that this could happen."

That was obviously tongue in cheek Diego, biting to get away from Liverpool. Tho by that date Barca had made a joke offer of 50m or something, and no one at our club took that seriously.

Nothing was a done deal by the time he bit the italian. Done deal is when papers are signed, nothing wa signed. Arsenal fans were already deciding where he would be best employed the year before, before anything was singed and we knew how that worked out.

Had he not bit the Italian things would be been different if not the outome

I think most of it is the fact that with the internet you can react anonymously and instantly to anything that happens. Which means people don't get a chance to calm down and analyse the situation properly and they don't have to concern themselves with embarrassment at saying something stupid because they are anonymous. I bet if you discussed the same points with the same posters as you do on here, face to face, their argument and opinion would be a lot more rational than it is on here.

Can agree with that bit pride has prevented a few from accepting they could possibly defined as fickle.

You can read some posts from this season from certain members about Brod and then go find their posts about Brod from last season and the difference is astounding <laugh>

I wouldnt say bashing. I would say taking an objective view instead of spinning things just to make your club look better and looking at both the good and bad points. This isnt the media it doesnt reallyaffect the club and constructive critiscm is good.

Take chelsea and mourinho. We should want more stability at the club and roman has been sacking managers right left and centre. This is a flaw of abramovics even though evidence says that what he is doing is just fine (since hes taken over we are the 2nd most succesful english club). I could spin that as hes been succesful which he has but he could have been more successful and i can see this (and im very grateful)

Mourinho plays defensive football and i wish he would smash more teams. His players are knackered and he doesnt make use of his squad even though he has spent quite a lot of money on squad players. This is a criticism of him but on the other hand he is a winner, hes a great man manager and he is winning.

Liverpool have had more downs and ups this season, of course there will be more criticism. The transfers over the 3 years have generally been a failure so i dont see how people can be defending that front (just as sisu has pointed out with us).

I think the way Gerrard is discussed on here has been pretty poor in the last few seasons. He's had constant abuse off certain posters despite being THE most influential player in our history.

Same can be said for the bluenoses. They will make a loss on the 28m on Lukaku but their punt on him (well less of a punt they already knew what they were getting) is still a saleable asset which is what you're suggesting with Balotelli :p

We're still going to Wembley for an FA Cup semi-final and in the fight for CL with EL practically guaranteed

Their season is over and next year their target will be top half of the table

Only gamble with what you can afford to lose [HASHTAG]#rulenumberone[/HASHTAG]

I wouldnt say he has been the most influential. Maybe most memorable anf iconic being the most recent massive player and also him being at the club through what can be described as a barren (if all the trophies he has won can be called barren) spell. He had the ability to go to any team he wanted (even though i dont rate him but i don't rate fat frank either as world class) but he stayed at pool.

He does need to be treated with more respect but i dont think you will find anyone disagreeing that he deserves a spot in the team in the past year (and even the other 2 years)
