True but hasn't he been "coming back" for a couple of weeks now? How long does it take and why put him on in other games if he's not ready?

I'm not arguing that he should have played yesterday, I'm not even arguing that it should be played. Just offering reasoning <ok>

He's not just coming back from injury, he needs to build up his fitness completely after he was basically frozen out of pre-season at Monaco as they tried to force him to move. His injury rehabilitation only really started when he moved to us, and he missed the benefit of all the pre season friendlies which would have given some good game time. I reckon he needs another couple of reserve games before he is fit to play 45 minutes for the 1st team, and then another week or so to be at full fitness.

LVG has said he would rather Falcao played for the reserves for the last week or so, but has needed him on the bench due to Wilson and Rooney's injuries. So he's obviously only there if needed in an emergency (i.e. we need a late goal) or if the game is comfortable and the team can carry him a bit. Neither of those were applicable yesterday, so he didn't play.

Look lads while you are bashing bonces in this yahda yahda way..... (which can be fun for a while when bored)

I would like to make a genuine point.

I saw the game stats from last niight on the sky sports app this morning. united had a total of 3 shots, 2 on target.. The pont is not how bad utd were, or lucky... no the point is this is the difference a genuine forward of quality can be to you. Now RvP might be aging and not his best but he made the difference... I seem to remember torres was similar. and LFC quite frankly are a joke with no forwards maybe 10 half chances or long shots for stats and maybe one actually on target.

A quality forward makes the difference so for me well done utd. I can't wait to see what southampton do next and how they react.... I found them one trick. I was not impressed with clyne that much and felt he was a bit at fault for the first goal by running out of position needlessly but the major blame goes to blind back pass. SOuthampton are good but i found it all predictable.

If utd had of had a scholes they'd have killed southamptons press with a few decent passes. southampton need to react to this now and get back on track.

Didn't know that bit <ok>

Didn't United only have one shot on target against Arsenal? So in the two games, that's three shots on target, four goals, six points. Ruthlessly efficient. Performances are ultimately irrelevant; its the points that count.

dunno i didn't see those stats. you are quie right however... van gaal is rafa benetiz <laugh> or a quote i heard out of rudd gullit, he said the game is all about the "moments" those one or two times when it really matters

Maybe thats a dutch thing.. but They took their goals and so the points so fair play!

I counted three real chances for southampton. pelle fired the first one into the roof of the net, long missed the second and pelle missed the third firing it just over (he seems to like to shoot high)

so utd aside form that were not really troubled and caused most of their own problems honestly through not having options to pass to. southamptons high press put 4 guys up on tuds back line and frankly felliani was very poor on the ball then.

credit must be given to utd to have the fight to get back into it... see that was hlaf the issue under moyes... zero belief. Van gaal has given utd the beleif so now he needs the players. A few more buys and they can solidify this third place for sure IMO.

You could twist that argument and say the poor defense at Man Utd gives De Gea the opportunity to look good :)

Yes im sure you could. It would make no sense at all though.

He only looks good because he makes brilliant saves and is almost unbeatable. Put a real defence im front of him and watch his fail.

Doesn't work.

We've won 5 games in a row without having to take that risk so why take it?

Heres a list of managers who havent done this.

Jose/chelsea
Pellegrini /city
Wenger/ arsenal
Rodgson/ liverpool
Martinez/ everton
Poc/ spurs

I think us, newcastle and saints have?

I find it interesting that when two lads refrained for actually giving abuse and gave some praise to Utd that......... hmmmm all the usual suspects have not bothered commenting up to 1pm and the one guy who did ignored it and carried on the bull.

funny that... i think thats says it all.

Boo hoo, try reading it again soft arse, it makes even less sense than your usual babble hence the comment and stick the veiled ban threat up your f**ing arse btw <ok>

I think that both clubs are struggling and will be looking to Swansea and Newcastle as league position rivals this season.
