True but hasn't he been "coming back" for a couple of weeks now? How long does it take and why put him on in other games if he's not ready?
I'm not arguing that he should have played yesterday, I'm not even arguing that it should be played. Just offering reasoning![]()
He's not just coming back from injury, he needs to build up his fitness completely after he was basically frozen out of pre-season at Monaco as they tried to force him to move. His injury rehabilitation only really started when he moved to us, and he missed the benefit of all the pre season friendlies which would have given some good game time. I reckon he needs another couple of reserve games before he is fit to play 45 minutes for the 1st team, and then another week or so to be at full fitness.
LVG has said he would rather Falcao played for the reserves for the last week or so, but has needed him on the bench due to Wilson and Rooney's injuries. So he's obviously only there if needed in an emergency (i.e. we need a late goal) or if the game is comfortable and the team can carry him a bit. Neither of those were applicable yesterday, so he didn't play.
or a quote i heard out of rudd gullit, he said the game is all about the "moments" those one or two times when it really matters
