Because I was at work and I don't have time to go through every one of the twenty odd posts and decide how respectful each was, nor did I want to encourage any 'why did you delete mine and not his' nonsense, so I deemed it more sensible to conclude things immediately by deleting them all.

Anyways started off. A cracking day for me that post. Got unLimited overtime and the offer of a promotion .all started fromthat post this morning

So you don't consider it relevant that the charge against him was overturned regarding the 14 year old (which was one of transporting a female over state lines and not having sex with a young girl)? Presumably you are a fan of certain bands and a particular DJ.

The robbery is no worse than a lot of people later accepted back into society have done. He did the crime and served his time.

As for the filming incidents then those are reprehensible.

Jerry Lee, Little Richard and Elvis were no angels.
Otherwise we'd have ended up with more Pat Boones and Neil Sedakas.

Agree about Peel though: loathsome individual, absurdly revered by some.

Jimmy Page had a well known fling with a 14 year old, as did Bill Wyman. Berry was never tried with, or convicted of having sex with a 14 year old. It wasn't an offence there anyway. It isn't one in .France, Germany or Portugal and many other countries we consider civilised. Principle Presley was only 14 when Elvis got involved with her. Little Richard, a favourite of mine swung both ways though he was predominantly on the gay side. The original lyrics to Tutti Frutti were-

If a female producer hadn't suggested a rewrite, suggesting the all rooty bit herself, I don't think that song would have seen the light of day.<laugh>

Nothing wrong with Neil Sedaka, he wrote some good songs. A decent documentary about him on channel 4 the other night.

Another favourite singer of mine, David Ruffin was a complete arsehole.

I was only not debating it due to whole threads of debate removed earlier actually
But here goes
His conviction wasn't overturned, it was 'vacated' or effectively set aside as if the trial didn't happen.
So after that they tried him again, with a new judge, and again found him guilty. He did getting on for two years for it

Berry's armed robberies might have just been a jolly jape as far as your concerned but they don't endear him to me regardless of whether he served his time
We agree on the peeping tom stuff
He was also about to be tried on other charges relating to *****philia after photos of underage girls were found in his house when the trial collapsed due to the prosecutor being implicated in something

Lot of smoke
Probably a fire
