Matiss Kivlenieks, 24 year old goalie for Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL (Ice hockey) has suddenly passed away

Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks died after falling and hitting his head on concrete in a July Fourth fireworks-related accident, police in Novi, Michigan, said Monday. Kivlenieks was 24.

Lt. Jason Meier of the Novi Police Department said that the fire department and EMTs arrived at a private home at 10:13 on Sunday night.

"There appears to have been a fireworks malfunction, which caused a group of people to flee from the hot tub, including the deceased, who slipped and hit his head on the concrete," Meier told ESPN on Monday."

As you say, tragic. Life is so strong and at times so fragile.

They have since updated this to say he was hit in the chest by a firework that exploded . Either way very unlucky .
