Sad to hear Alan Jarvis has passed away, fond memories of watching him playing in the sixties. I used to see him most Saturday nights in the Hotel Eden (Cave Bar) now the Willerby Manor. A right smooth guy with the ladies.

It's believed he has been suffering from a form of dementia related with heading the ball.

Very sad and if his death was a result of that even more so.... RIP

Whatever became of the Astle family claims with the PFA...?
 
Nicky Henson, the actor who starred in everything from Fawlty Towers, to Downton Abbey, to Eastenders, has died aged 74 (cancer).

Wouldn’t have thought it by his accent but he went to prep school and posh public school Charterhouse.

Never made the connection with the name that he is Adam Henson’s uncle.

He’d actually been suffering with dementia for over fifteen years.
 
Peter Snell has passed away aged 80. Us oldies can remember what an outstanding, indeed amazing athlete he was. The fact that New Zealand voted him, and not a cricketer or rugby union player Sportsman Of The Century says it all.

Amazed no one has posted this till now but

RIP Billy Hughes

For a couple of years in the mid 70s he was a top, top larker.

This match shows him in his pomp , swaggering past the MUFC defence at the Theatre of Boot Boys as it was back then.
 
Football at its best. Full bloodied tackles, no diving about and rolling over half a dozen times as though been shot by a sniper in the stands, huge crowd and a commentator with a passion and a love of the game in his voice. Also how good was Stuart Pearson ? and to think Hull City beat that Man U at home the previous week. A lovely nostalgic clip of football as I want to remember it.

That’s when it was a mans game.
Fed up of the cheating nowadays.
The beautiful game is on skid row. FACT.

That feeling of being on air as you were carried down and sideways when you scored. That just brought that flooding back.

We beat SAFC here late October 74 too less than a month before MUFC were put to the sword.

How noisy were the crowds back then? Or rather how quiet are crowds now?

More full blooded 50-50s in that MUFC v SAFC clip than a month full of MOTDs now.
