Football at its best. Full bloodied tackles, no diving about and rolling over half a dozen times as though been shot by a sniper in the stands, huge crowd and a commentator with a passion and a love of the game in his voice. Also how good was Stuart Pearson ? and to think Hull City beat that Man U at home the previous week. A lovely nostalgic clip of football as I want to remember it.

Just had a look at Man Utd’s results that season. They lost more games than I thought they had. Norwich had it over them that season, first team to beat them at end of September, only one from what I could see that took 3 points, in those of 2 points for a win, off them, and beat them in the League Cup semi-final.

RIP Martin Peters, you will always be a legend of the English game and that afternoon in 66 will make sure your name is remembered evermore.

I think it is a fair assumption that even if England won the World. Cup again that 50 years after the players won’t be regarded with as much affection as that group of modest, humble players are.

Yes, it's a sad day seeing that Martin Peter's has passed away. As reported he was probably the first of the modern-day footballer, great player and an important part of the jigsaw that put together a World Cup-winning team by Alf Ramsey. RIP Martin.

Neil Innes. In many funny things including The Rutles.
