I met Paul when I went to stay with a french family in Lille with school in the early eighties.

The father of the family I stayed with was Phillipe Crepelle who was managing La Redoute cycling team at the time.

Paul became my personal translater on race day. Really nice guy.

Sad sad news. He lived in Uganda of all places. Some voices are simply synonymous with a particular sport. His was one. RIP
 
pete shelley of the buzzcocks has died of a suspected heart attack aged 63. :(

Many on here will have their favourites, he had a lot of tunes, an ear for melody and a unique style.

Here's one from early 80s with Barry Adamson on bass. Absolute earworm.
 
Pete Shelley...R.I.P I was just playing 'times up' earlier on today.Absolute wordsmith,saw him play loads of times.....I'm genuinely gutted to hear he's passed away.

Went to see the Buzzcocks at Newcastle City Hall on my 21st birthday. My girlfriend at that time had a tortoise called Shelley. She took it to the gig. We got a message to Pete Shelley who invited us backstage and signed the tortoise's shell.

RIP Pete Shelley (& Shelley). Your music will live on. Abritrary Images.
