You ban the action of throwing an item. Banning an item is an example of stupid logic. Knives in kitchens are useful. People also kill others with them. Ban knives? Or ban the criminal act of murder?

Come on, you can work through this logic. Why punish normal people for carrying coins? Hyperbole - just a daft exaggeration to make a grand point that gets attention but holds very little water when analysed.

I'm off now - you can tell this foot of snow is sending me daft - should be finishing a 60 mile bike ride right now and instead I'm taking it out on this forum!

Are you saying the KC atmosphere is better than that? ...and there are less fans there than at the KC!
They also have fireworks and there is a lot of paper flying about mixing with flares - how many mass footballing disasters have there been in Greece due to flares?

As BCC said, it's all about the authorities trying to take the fun out of going to football - the lad wasn't causing any trouble by letting off the flare. It's the same with going for a night out - soo many people don't bother anymore for similar reasons - I'm all for being well behaved, but people can't even sing or shout in the streets on a night out anymore without being classed as 'drunk and disorderly'.

Nobody seems to suffer any ill effects there. Yet one smoke bomb (not flare, I wish they would get it right) causes the tough, descended from generations of tough dockers and fishermen, people of Hull to act like a load of pansies.
Presumably no one in Greece suffers from any of the afflictions which effect so many of our fans.

This is why they are banned. You carry one of these into a football stadium with the sole intention of commiting an offence, there is no comparison with taking coins into a stadium.

Is it illegal? I assumed it isn't as according to the article he's not charged with any specific offence. The Police seem to be colouring in the risk with spurious mention of totally unconnected issues such as the Bradford fire and a false claim of a high risk of injury. It says a lot when the other fan mentioned was banned for no offence at all!!

Amazing, he was "consistently being associated with trouble" and yet the other who seemingly were actively involved in this alleged "trouble" don't seem to have been arrested.

Smells awfully like Corcorran milking a cash cow or bricking it at the thought he may have to do proper Police work.
 
Can we have the North Stand for standing Jumping up and down , hanging flags , air horns , singing with the odd curse thrown in and letting off the odd smoke bomb .

Those who don't like it don't come in the North stand ... Looking at some of the ' ultra ' videos i wish we had such a noise making end / stand ..

Surely the police have better things to do , I could point them in the direction of real crime happening every day which they seem happy to ignore

According to the Police that guy must be made of asbestos or have super powers. How on earth has avoided being burnt to a crisp? Unless of course, the Police lied.

This is true. They're always even handed too.

As someone posted on a picture, you can tell who's lwanting a riot by looking at who is dressed for one.

The police actions and inactions killed 96 people at a football match so lets ban them.

Was it a flare at the Millwall game or some other device? It would seem the Police description is wrong according to some who seem to know these things.

As for the risk, and as someone that has used them in a work environment for years, I'd say the fumes in the car park are a far, far greater risk.

Don't we? The risk from flares would be severe burning. They're a totally different thing to the smoke bombs let off at football. Most smoke bombs have a minimal risk of respiratory problems and then mainly limited to people with existing, underlying issues. The risk from vehicle fumes is far greater. Should people using cars near the stadium be banned?
